Ch. 2 (view spoiler)[ I love how Jess loves books, a boy after my own heart. That crap with the ink licker was creepy as fuck. I don't know how to feel about Jess's family, they all seem a bit cold. I'm excited to see the library in Alexandria!! (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 6 (view spoiler)[ Holy crap these chapters are long and so much happens!! I'm fascinated by Wolfe, he's a really interesting character since he doesn't want these postulants but at the same time he's trying to protect them. I'm super nervous for Jess and them going to Oxford. I think the Artifex is an asshole and he's trying to get Wolfe and them killed. (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 12 (view spoiler)[ Man this shit is crazy!! The library is out for Wolfe and like he didn't even do anything wrong. The library needs to be changed for the better. I'm so worried for Jess and Morgan. Definitely shipping them. I like that the postulants are learning to work together. I'm worried for Thomas too since he's making the press thing and the library is probably going to try to take him out. Ugh I love this story (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ Ugh fuck the artifex!! I hope Jess takes him down somehow. And thank god Wolfe sent Jess away from him and into the guarda, it will make it very hard for him to spy this way. I wonder if Thomas is alive, god I hope he is. And Jess needs to help Morgan find a way out of the Iron tower. I'm glad Khalila got a gold band, she deserved it. Dario turned out not to be so bad. I think him and Jess are almost friends after everything they went through. (hide spoiler)]

It was a pretty interesting conclusion. I'm not sure I'm swayed enough to try the next one though. Something about this book just didn't quite get me. I wish I knew why.

Ch. 4 (view spoiler)[ Man the library really wants to kill Wolfe. I'm so glad they haven't succeeded yet! I'm sad that Tariq was killed, but glad he failed at assassinating Wolfe. I hope to the skies that Jess and his friends find Thomas. I'm so glad Khalila and Dario will be involved. I wonder if we'll see Morgan again? (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 8 (view spoiler)[ Well things have been insane that's for sure! I can't believe Morgan managed to escape the Iron Tower for a day, but I'm glad she did. Now Glain and Jess have been sent to Rome, I'm super worried for them. I love how observant Jess is and glad no one died in that burner attack. Plus now we have confirmation that Thomas is in Rome. I think we're just starting to see how corrupt the library has become when they got rid of Scholar Prakesh :( (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 12 (view spoiler)[ I'm so glad Jess found out how to turn off the automatons. Otherwise, they'd all be dead like five times over. The Artifex definitely was going to try and off all of them since he brought Dario and Khalila with him. I'm so glad they got Thomas out of the cells. Seeing him and Morgan work on the automaton was pretty cool, I'm sad the lion didn't last very long. And I'm not ready to go to the Iron Tower. WHERE THE HELL IS DARIO!? (hide spoiler)]

I'm glad Keria did try to help them in the end. I can't believe the Archivist commanded the destruction of the Black Archives. All that knowledge just gone. It's so hard to imagine. Also Jess's father is despicable, I can't believe he sold out his son like that. I wonder if Jess and his friends will be any safer with the Burners?? (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 7 Wolfe (view spoiler)[I'm super excited to see everything begin to play out. I love seeing Jess act as Brendan. Brendan definitely reminds me of Kaz Brekker a bit. I wonder if Jess will be able to befriend Nexia again. I love the multiple perspectives too! Khalila is a damn genius and I'm glad they managed to take over that ship. I bet Wolfe needs to do something with the other prisoners, maybe stage an outbreak?? I wonder if that guy who tortured Wolfe will come back since he's imprisoned again now. (hide spoiler)]

I'm most worried about Morgan alone in the Iron Tower. I know she's super powerful, but Gregory is out for blood. She needs allies and she needs them quickly. I'm so glad Jess is a quick thinker and prepared for the Archivist to interrogate him. It's really too bad he couldn't let that automaton eviscerate him. (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 30 Khalila (view spoiler)[ I wish Wolfe hadn't thought to try and outwit Jess. He shouldn't have tried to get on the Archivist's good side. At least they all were saved from being thrown back in the prison cells. While Jess has been sowing his dissent in the High Guarda, my girls have been up to their own tricks and I am so proud of them!!! I think Iskander is going to be instrumental in bringing down Gregory and I cannot wait. I love Khalila and her big heart. I think her being able to convince other scholars of their mission is imperative and I really want this to work. I don't know who would replace the Archivist but I started thinking maybe Jess??? (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1 - 4: (view spoiler)[I love the setting of this. It’s so refreshing to see a dystopian book set outside the US. The politics in this are quite interesting, too! I like the characters, especially Khalila, but I don’t feel attached to them yet. So far, the story is interesting. Can’t wait to see where it goes.
Oh, also, I wonder what the author meant by stating that Khalila is “pretty, not beautiful”?? (hide spoiler)]
