I think so. If it's set in a place ruled by some sort of monarch real or imagined I don't see why not.

message 43: by oshizu, Challenges (last edited Aug 22, 2018 09:15PM) (new)

oshizu | 4925 comments Just wondering...
I read Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians when it first came out.
Wasn't it set in Singapore, rather than Malaysia?

Octothorpe Reader Leora K (octothorpereaderleorak) | 276 comments Singapore used to be a state of Malaysia before it became independent and has always had a king. As Singapore is no longer part of Malaysia and the book is current, if it's causing doubt, one of the mods can confirm and I'll remove.

message 45: by Susan (new)

message 47: by Greg (new)

Greg (lupercross) | 1513 comments I have just finished Young Bloods, book 1 of the Revolution series by Simon Scarrow. This book is set in France, England, Ireland, and Corsica as it is about the childhood and early careers of Napoleon Bonaparte and Arthur Wesley, Duke of Wellington. If you are a historical fiction buff, read this. It is excellent.

2/3

message 48: by Greg (new)

Greg (lupercross) | 1513 comments And I finished The Betrayal Game which is set in Cuba. I count this because it was a Spanish Colony at one time, so was ruled by a monarch in the past.
