Wow, only two this month:

The Alcatraz on 8/3
Poppy War 8/15 (I'm thinking my copy might not come in on time, so I might have to buy it)

message 5: by Timelord Iain (last edited Jul 25, 2018 09:03AM) (new)

Timelord Iain | 15609 comments I've dropped out of a ton lately, so this is mine:

8/1 -- Invisible Library
8/4 -- Steel's Edge
8/6 -- Komarr
8/6 -- Hallowed Hunt
8/8 -- Under My Heel
8/9 -- Bands of Mourning
8/10 -- Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians
8/14 -- Rogue Protocol
8/15 -- No Time Like the Past
8/20 -- Last Olympian

Bookburners Season 2 = Episode every Friday
Flexible = Dresden Files #13-15
Flexible = KD Re-read (PNR thread)
Weekends = Romances (NBC) (Winston Brothers, Green Creek, etc)

8/10 -- End of All Things ???
8/10 -- Kings of the Wyld ???
8/13 -- Sufficiently Advanced Magic ???
8/15 -- Furies of Calderon ???
Weekdays = Historical Romances???

All them ???s are optional additions, that I just added when reading the list a few days ago... tons of things ended in July/August or I dropped them, so my TBR is much more flexible all of a sudden... I guess this is my form of summer slowdown... might not seem like much, but it's a lot lighter than a few months ago...

Also, almost everything is shorter, YA, or a re-read, so they're fast reads as well...

message 6: by Narilka (new)

Narilka | 2628 comments I'm in for two this month:

08/04 Steel's Edge Ilona Andrews
08/12 Days of Blood & Starlight Laini Taylor

Which is good. I have some older BRs I want to catch up on.

Orb Sceptre Throne
The Crippled God

message 9: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 5795 comments I decided to limit myself to 3 buddy-reads a month. So, naturally, I signed up for 6...

08/04 Ravensong (with the NBC)
08/07 The Knights of Crystallia
08/10 Kings of the Wyld
08/15 The Poppy War
08/16 Tooth and Claw (with Zaara)
08/23 Blood of Elves

In addition to that, I also have the Kate Daniels read-through (PNR thread) and Bookburners episodes each Friday.

message 10: by Mayim (new)

2. The Prince of Dogs.
3. The Healthy Dead.
4. Winter Warriors.
5. Veil of Spears.
6. Midnight Tides.

But I am going for holidays this month and so this might be wishful thinking.

Do you have time to also read others outside of that list? Also, do you ever feel any sort of audio burnout? Just curious. :) it seems like 13 titles would be at least 5 or 6 hours a day of fast speed listening.

message 23: by Andorion (last edited Jul 26, 2018 05:42PM) (new)

Andorion (ruineleint) 8/1 - Naamah's Curse
8/6 - Komarr

8/25 - Mirror's Truth
8/26 - Iron Council

And of course the Kate Daniels reread.

Others may be added :P

I've just recently started reading stuff outside the list, but mostly I stick to the list. Yes, I get burnout. I've dropped some brs in favor of my own stuff a few times. Burn out has forced me to dnf books I'm really not enjoying, which I think is actually a good thing. I'd rather be reading awesome books anyway.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 3908 comments And yes, it's about 6-8 hours a day during the week, and maybe an hour or 2 on weekends. I used to have a 3-4 hour a day commute and I'd listen some during the day while working. Now I'm unemployed as of June 30, so I've been listening while doing housework and random house projects. I basically just walk around all day with headphones on. Still end up averaging the same daily reading time. :-)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3488 comments I still need to finish House of Chains from last month, as well as couple of other books that have been on hold. As for BRs in August I'll be reading:

8/8 Prince of Dogs
8/24 Midnight Tides

I'm interested in Poppy War but I may wait until the next BR.

8/24 The Gates of Rome is a maybe

message 28: by Rob (last edited Jul 27, 2018 06:32AM) (new)

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 1806 comments I'm in for 8/3 Daylight War
8/10 Healthy Dead - Ok might have to skip and wait for them to come out with a second compilation of the tales which I believe is in process. This is too pricey for a 128-page book unless I want to go all in on a collectible first edition etc. Same boat with the Fiends of Nightmaria.
8/24 Midnight Tides

But still in process of Wrath of Empire, Valour, and the Desert Spear, and still doing House of Chains.

Ideally, I'd be reading Komarr (but still haven't read Memory) , and I recently got Kings of Wyld too. Maybe I'll push that to next year.

Kings of the Wyld August 10th
Children of Blood and Bone August 24th

But considering I did 9 for July I'll probably add a few more in at some point, just not sure what I want to commit to yet.

Hailee | 2499 comments I'm not actually doing any buddy reads this month. I cleared my schedule as the books I am reading in August are for a month long Harry Potter themed readathon. I have a list of 14 books that I'll be trying to get through (hopefully I'll achieve between 8 and 10 but its good to have options). I'll put up a list of what I'll be reading in the August - what am I reading thread when its up. I'm hoping August will be another good reading month!!

Don't know about NEWT or which group is hosting that but I I am doing this challenge

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Was very excited. Signed up and later realized that am in big trouble as to earn points I have to write a review (mostly a little about the story and how I liked it, don't have to be a big one). And I am very very lazy when it comes to writing reviews.

Also can we do it or something like this next year for team challenge? Just without writing reviews?

It is a really fun readathon. It is based on the exams in Harry Potter. This is actually the second one this year. The OWLs readathon was held in April.

The best place to find out about it is the host's youtube video announcement since the rules are quite involved. Here is the link 😊:

🤭🤭

I didn't read all the rules just till the point where it was told how the challenge was played. They are doing it solo and team. So team chats are interesting, specially where the members decides which alphabet they would be reading books for. That guarantees more interaction among the team members and have more to do as a team...

Only if they remove that spin the wheel and review things...
