Assassin/soldier/fighter or training to be one

Relationships can be mf, ff or bisexual

Please help me out if you have any suggestions that meets ANY of the criteria. You can also check my profile for the kind of books I like best. I just discovered this group and am really grateful.

Martini (shakenorstirred) | 212 comments I made a similar request (sci-fi/fantasy with strong female lead and little to no romance) two years ago in another group. Here are some of the books that I have read/were recommended to me:
Ninefox Gambit
Shards of Honor
Ancillary Justice
The Diamond Age: Or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer
The Disfavored Hero
Hunting Party
Behind the Throne
Fortune's Pawn
Daughter of the Sword

Strong female lead, but not an assassin/soldier/fighter:
The Steerswoman
Paladin of Souls
The Fifth Season
City of Stairs
Six Wakes
Sabriel
Dreamsnake
Remnant Population
Dawn
Karen Memory
Autonomous
The Traitor Baru Cormorant

Videomaster21XX | 30 comments Well I know a book about a strong woman wanting to be a knight where woman aren't allowed to be knights.

I know there is romance, but it takes a bake seat to the main plot.

Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pirece

They're thrillers, not paranormal or fantasy, but very tough female lead, borderline assassin. Assassin qualities.

Louisiana Longshot mystery, the MC is a CIA assassin in hiding because her identity was "leaked" to an arms dealer who now wants to kill her. First in a series. (Oh, and a whole passel of strong females in this one, not just the MC.)

Mandy (manduck) | 112 comments Skinwalker - It's urban fantasy with a strong heroine (she hunts rogue vampires).

This has a strong female lead (actually two!) not strictly speaking an assassin. Furyborn

Spider's Bite - Urban fantasy assassin.

Nora | 112 comments And I Darken by Kiersten White

Red Sister by Mark Lawrence

Archivist Wasp by Nicole Kornher-Stace

Keith | 220 comments The Praxis and its sequels - This series has two protagonists, but the female one (a naval officer who also leads an underground resistance movement later in the series) is by far the more interesting and cool of the two. Romance levels: low.

Nevernight and its sequels - Female assassin-in-training (in the first book).
