Popular authors I can't get into

I agree I've tried to read some of his books for instance "An Abundance of Katherines" I couldn't get into it at all! It was so slow, I felt like he took so much time droning on and on about the same thing...
I've only read tfios but thought it was extremely slow paced with a boring plot and unlikable characters, even though basically everybody was raging on how emotional and how funny it is blah blah blah
I've only read 2 books by John Green so far and liked them, but nothing special. I wouldn't consider him a special author or something. I can't really think of any (popular) authors I can't seem to get into right now. When I don't enjoy a book, I usually don't pick up another book by the same author, only if they're really hyped and I wanna try something else (like V.E.Schwab, I've read one of her books which I found a bit meh, but I'll definitely pick up another one).

*Disclaimer: we are not having a go at these authors, we only want people to know why we can't seem to get into their books*
Here are some of mine:
Thomas Hardy--tried so many times to read Tess of the D'Urbervilles but I can't get into his writing style!
Rainbow Rowell, everyone I know say her writing style is amazing but I can't see that. I found it lazy and irritating when I read Landline. I don't think I could get through any more of her books again, I'm sorry to admit.
John Green again with the writing style! I can't do it! And I'm sad I'll never know what the world was crazing about 2012
There's no doubt more that I've forgotten, but what are some of your popular authors you can't get into?
