Spacepig Pig | 1473 comments It's possible that, somewhere deep in the recesses of history, we may have done Tangerine Dream before. It's also possible that I am stoned out of my tits and am just imagining that we had a TD round, who knows, who cares, let's have them anyway.

At the last count, Tangerine Dream had 18,967 albums out, so I am hoping there will be a song (tune) for everyone who wants to take part, the more the merrier.

As ever, noms close Sunday at 10pm, enjoy your weekend, and go Croatia :-)

Tech XXIII | 6727 comments space! look into my eyes - this is not the thing you were looking for - we did tangerine dream last week, remember? i won, of course, so there's no need to do it again!...........and back in the room! :)

From the White Eagle album. This one near freaked me out when I first heard it (headphones and the bong helped I suppose), but it's probably my favourite album of their's now:

This could be the longest running playlist we've ever done. Just nobody nominate Philip Glass!

No probs. The intervals were about the same as a normal gig with an hour in the middle for lunch. We were more worried about the 'band' making it safely to the end, as apart from the female singer they were all in their 70s and all that bowing (that's bo - ing) can take its toll.

message 19: by Brass Neck (new)

Brass Neck | 3891 comments Catheterisation, obviously. Boing!

message 20: by Spacepig (last edited Jul 15, 2018 02:49PM) (new)

Spacepig Pig | 1473 comments I sometimes struggle to understand why so many of you don't like long track. I would say that practically all my favourite tracks are well over 10 mins long, most probably exceed 20 mins. I think I like to give a song time to develop, I sort of reckon that if its long enough to roll up a nice fat one, then enjoy it and have a few minutes of after toke to appreciate the ending, then we are coming close to the ideal length.

Anyway, time for that here this week folks. A reasonable 10 tracks extending to something like 100 minutes or so to enjoy. This means we have the 4 point voting system this week. Votes to be cast by 10 pm on Thursday.

The noms:

Ricochet (Part I)
Lily on the Beach
We Were Set Up
Stratosfear
Love On A Real Train
Cherokee Lane
The Seven Barriers
Mojave Plan
Cinnamon Road
Rubycon (Part 2)

The playlist:

Spacepig Pig | 1473 comments And there we have it:

A nice wee short playlist there, but I am sure everyone thoroughly enjoyed it :-)

The winner this week, it's been a while since we seen him up there but, well done Fishy Jim, with Rubycon (part 2).
Second place, Tim, with Stratosfear, and sharing the bronze - the Duke, and of course, tech, with Ricochet (Part I) and We Were Set Up.

If that round has convinced me of anything, it has simply reaffirmed to me, long ones are the best :-)

message 31: by theDuke (new)

theDuke | 5784 comments Well done Jim! I quite like a long track, so long as it has plenty of changes during, otherwise, they can get a bit drawn out.

message 32: by Lez (new)

Lez | 7490 comments Well done, Jim and thanks for the nomination Duke - I played all 10 discs of my box set over 2 days and ticked the ones I liked best.

message 33: by Tech XXIII (new)

Tech XXIII | 6727 comments "long ones are the best" - ooooh, matron! :)

for me, there has to be a point to the long ones (whatever floats your boat, vicar!), and a song is only as long as it needs to be - there can be as much relevance in a song/piece only lasting a few seconds! it just depends!

well done the winners - your medals are in the post for tolerating that playlist, except for me who didn't! :)

message 34: by Fishy_Jim (new)

Fishy_Jim | 970 comments Thanks all. In a twist of fate, Tim nabbed what would have been my first choice for a nomination and came second with it, so I'm doubly pleased. :-)

S'funny, Jim. If you'd got in first I'd probably have nommed Rubycon as second choice! 😂
