Still (mantan) | 74 comments Anyone else here ever read Arnold Hano's Western novels?
I just finished with The Last Notch (Black Gat Books) and I haven't read any Western novel as noir as this one since the last Clifton Adams or Frank Castle title I came across.

I reviewed it over on My Books folder. I just can't recommend this one highly enough.
If you can recommend any other Hano novels, I'd sure be obliged.
He wrote under the aliases "Matthew Gant" and "Ad Gordon".
There might be others I'm unaware of but Hano was responsible for getting Jim Thompson published via Hano's position as the guy who started Lion Books under the management of Martin Goodman.

If you have more information on Arnold Hano pseudonyms please let me know.

Edwin (edmandu) | 230 comments I've been tempted to pick this one up since I read James Reasoner's glowing review on his blog a few months back. That Matthew Gant pseudo seems familiar. I'll have to check my Westerns collection.

Still (mantan) | 74 comments Curious about the use of the alias “Ad” Gordon. Unusual name.

I need to find Reasoner’s blog entry on Hano. James Reasoner’s blog is a treasure trove of a tip-sheet on little known or now forgotten titans of Westerns and Thriller paperback originals & Pulps.

I looked everywhere on Reasoner's blog for the Hano review and couldn't find jack. I found some great stuff on Western pulps I downloaded from a newsgroup site but I couldn't find the Hano piece.
If you have a link, please pass it my way.

Duane FLINT is one of the three novels in 3 Steps to Hell: So I'm a Heel/Flint/The Big Out, published by Stark House. Solid hard-boiled western. https://smile.amazon.com/Steps-Hell-H...

I haven't read THE LAST NOTCH yet.
