The beautiful, hilly region in which ________was born...must have profoundly impacted ___ young mind, and influenced the artist's love of landscapes in ___ later career.

As befits a child of ___ rank, __________ was educated in Latin, letters and the sciences, scholarly interests that ___ would pursue for the rest of ___ life...one version of ___ biography says that ___________'s teacher used to scold ___ terribly for drawing in the margins of ___ books, instead of doing ___ schoolwork.

__________ seems to have quickly tired of the small-town life...

It was ________ who finally pushed _______ to make the obligatory artistic pilgrimage to Rome...the rather introverted, serious ________ had a hard time making ___ mark... ___ lived a seemingly ambulatory existence in Rome.

________ did not necessarily get along too well with ___ fellow Academy members. Although contemporary reports suggest ________ had a relatively calm, sober character that allowed ___ to cultivate many important personal relationships (despite ___ occasionally fierce temper), other artists in the Academy had a problem with ________'s style...Some artists may have taken ________'s paintings the wrong way, but that didn't keep ___ from growing in popularity.

_______ was notoriously controlling about ___ work, and despised being subject to the demands of ___ patrons and having to direct workshop assistants.

_______ reluctantly returned to _____.

_______ deceived the king by asking for temporary leave to return to Italy in order to fetch ___ [companion].

In ___ later years... unlike many other painters of the _______ [movement]... _______did not employ workshop assistants, and in fact rarely allowed anyone to even enter ___ workshop.

_______'s last paintings reflect the artist's stoic endurance of ___ illness and ___ preoccupation with death. The artist was deeply affected by the death of his [companion] by which time ___ was already completely ravaged by ___ mysterious illness and even, some say, partially paralyzed.
