No Other Pearl by R. Garcia Vazquez R. Garcia Vazquez

Title: No Other Pearl
Author: R. Garcia Vazquez
Genre: Short Stories
Formats Available: Mobi, Epub & Pdf
Time Frame: 4 Weeks
Copies Available: 12

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

In Venere, Venere, Norma Mars, a middle-aged housewife on the brink of despair meets a strange young man the day of her daughter's wedding. In Where Are You, Ricardo? Joseph rationalizes marital infidelity as a response to the daily emotional torments of caring for his wheelchair-bound wife. In The Battlefield, Bonniah, torn between her peculiar husband and unlucky sister, faces a life-altering decision.

The nine stories in this collection offer nine looks at that complicated thing we call love. No fairy tales in the dark folds of life, no happily-ever-afters. But sometimes among the shadows we find hints of light. García Vázquez's writing conditions the eye to those dimly lit places where men and women begin to reassess who they are and to discover the extraordinary possibilities of who they can become.

Celia (cinbread19) | 8 comments I have a copy already and have started reading. R. is a very deep thinker and these stories will undoubtedly show it. I have read only one story so far, The Battlefield, and am re-thinking of the dysfunctional relationships portrayed there. Makes me think of my own relationships? Are they dysfunctional too?
