Cendaquenta | 44 comments This seems like the perfect challenge for me. Let's have a rummage through the shelves then...

✔ 1850s - Completed! The Lifted Veil by George Eliot

✔ 1860s - Completed! Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell

1870s to 1890s - ???? (don't currently own anything)

1900s - The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy

✔ 1910s - Completed! Herland and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

✔ 1920s - Completed! Lud-In-The-Mist by Hope Mirrlees

1930s - options: The Waves, The Years or Flush by Virginia Woolf
All Passion Spent by Vita Sackville-West
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons
Frost In May by Antonia White
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

1940s - don't currently own anything

✔ 1950s - Completed! The Sundial by Shirley Jackson

Recommendations for books from the missing decades would be very much appreciated!

Kathleen | 4162 comments Welcome to the challenge, Cendaquenta!

FYI, there's a group read of Cold Comfort Farm next month, if you choose that one. I'm hoping to read All Passion Spent soon too. And for 1940's, I second Aubrey's recommendation of The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.

Have fun!
