Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 196 comments I have just started trying a new author and noticed that half her books are under "Emilie Loring" to match the covers on the books, but her author bio is under her full name of Emilie Baker Loring. I just wanted to make sure nothing had changed about the author name policy before switching the account to the shorter name that appears on the covers. Is it okay to remove "Baker" from her main profile to align with how she published?

Thanks!

Emilie Baker Loring

Emy (emypt) | 5038 comments As a first point of reference, you will need to check all the books to see whether any covers have Baker on it. For the present, I have merged EL into EBL as the latter is the more complete version of her name. Depending on the results of your research, we may be able to then convert EBL into just EL, but it is dependant on what covers show.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 196 comments There are a few public domain ones that have been reprinted with the "Baker," but the first editions and nearly all of the traditionally published paperbacks are just Emilie Loring.

These are the only ones that have Baker listed on any editions: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...

So yes, the VAST majority of her books do not have Baker on the cover.

Emy (emypt) | 5038 comments It's not necessarily where the majority goes, it's more based on two things:

How they preferred to be known
and
Time of publication - in the case of a deceased author, I would be looking to see if any works were published as EBL during her lifetime.

(For a currently publishing author, it would depend on whether they had chosen to move to EBL later in their career, or if they were doing a Koontz-style pseudonym using their middle initial/name etc.)

lethe | 14858 comments Since the only two editions with the full name are PD, I'd say she clearly published as Emilie Loring in her lifetime.

The entry in Wikipedia is also Emilie Loring: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emili...

Emy (emypt) | 5038 comments Wikipedia is a good (if not perfect) guide. I'm happy to make that change and to add notes.

Pamela (PamelaStAbbs) | 1 comments Hello.
Many thanks for the team in putting Pamela St Abbs together. However I have noticed that on the author profile page my name comes up just as Pamela Abbs on sub headings instead of Pamela St Abbs. I would be grateful for this to be corrected.
Many Thanks
Pamela

Those are subject to how your name is listed in your user profile, so you would need to edit that here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/edit?f...

Also, this is really not the same issue this thread is regarding. Next time, please start a new thread instead of posting to a tangentially related one.

This thread is linked to a different author in the topic header, so maybe you want to close it.
