This review is going to be physically painful to write. Julia Whelan is one of my favorite audiobook narrators so I could not wait to snatch up her debut novel (narrated by her, of course). It started with such promise and then quickly went downhill for me.

First, let me start with the good thing: I liked the writing. The story was compelling, the characters were charming, and it kept me engaged. So, I am not writing off future books by Whelan.
