I knew about Gatsby's death but I didn't totally know how it happened. I thought the overall ending was rushed and I had to reread parts of it for it to make sense.
I felt that everything was sort of thrown at us at once after Daisy hit Myrtle. I remember I had to take long pauses in between reads just to try and soak everything up and try to figure out what was happening. Also the ending left me kind of empty, but that might just be me being sentimental LOL.
