A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold - 4 stars

This is so sweet. It's middle grade, so well below my reading level, but I didn't feel like I was reading below my level. I just felt like I was reading a story from the perspective of a nine year old. The main character is autistic, but the story isn't about his autism-- so rare and such a treat! Also he gets a pet skunk. How cool is that? I sometimes joke with my husband that my inner child is a ten year old boy-- and my inner child loved this book.

There really are some wonderful MG books avl. Thank you for letting us know about this... it's on my list!

I especially love that the autism is there but not the focus.
