Lily (joy1) | 711 comments The following are from A's meeting notes:

"We had a lively discussion on The Language of Flowers.... The foster system and how it affects a young child as well as could Grant possibly be so patient were interesting topics.

We discussed The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness as a future possibility...

"...We decided on State of Wonder by Ann Patchett for October and are still looking for suggestions for September.

"...will miss August's meeting but am enjoying The Goldfinch thus far.

"Enjoy the rest of the summer..."

Other books mentioned included:

The Enchanted The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld

The Abortion Myth: Feminism, Morality, and the Hard Choices Women Make by Leslie Cannold

Janet Williams | 38 comments Yes, I thought "The Language of Flowers" was a bit unrealistic, but I enjoyed the read. Children are incredibly resilient. I am able to see that every day. If only adults were as resilient!
