Yeah it sounds like I'll love it too but the author has such a blasé attitude to finishing the series that I don't really trust him to ever finish so I'm holding off until I know one way or the other.

Just started! 5 chapters in and I'm loving it. So pleased to be back into this world!

It's probably going to take me a good few weeks to get through this since it's so large, I've got other reads and I've got a lot on after work all this week but I'm quite happy to just enjoy it slowly.

There's something about the writing, it's quite slow paced but I'm hanging on every word, dying to find out what's coming.

Chapter 6 (view spoiler)[. I really enjoyed that! Kvothe is pretty clever sometimes. I really enjoyed his stint with the music. I don't see how on earth he's going to earn enough for his tuition honestly and because they keep mentioning him, I think Ambrose is going to pose a problem. (hide spoiler)]

Isn't is just the best? You're right, Charlie, it's something about Rothfuss's writing style that just entices you to read more. The descriptions are always fantastic ^^

I'm about 25 chapters in (I put the book on hold for this BR) and most likely continue it after I get farther in Mistborn.

I am on chapter 7. For some reason this one isn't gripping me like the first book. I'm going to be slow in reading though. It's so long that I need to read my other brs between.

I have no idea where I'm at chapter wise but I'm about 25% through and I'm really into it. I just want to live in the university. It sounds like an amazing place. It's back to the Kingkiller Chronicles for me! :) I'm absolutely loving it! It's such a calming and yet thrilling read. For life at the university is never really a dull moment for our little survivor.

Being back with Kvothe and his group is like returning to good friends. Some of the banter is so laugh out loud funny. Especially with Master Elodin. Here are some of my favorite bits 27% in:

I am trying to teach you." He leaned forward until his face was almost touching mine. "Quit grabbing at my tits." The professor is such a quirky guy, but he know's what he's talking about...at least I think he does. XD

I also loved it when Sim was informing Kvothe the dangers of alchemy. Yikes! lol. Just goes to show you Kvothe still doesn't know it all. Always listen to the alchemist. So remember, mixing his concoction with piss turns it into delicious candy XD (hide spoiler)]

Without a doubt Rothfuss is a amazing writer (even if he might be a dick). However, I’m having trouble getting into this one as much as book 1. Some parts have me intrigued and others feel like they drag on. Maybe it’s just me. 😂

So I kept reading a couple chapters, putting it down and moving in to other books for a few days, repeat. I don't even remember where I was in the book when I picked it up this morning but I'm now around chapter 50. I'm hooked. The rest of the book is going to breeze by. Kvothe just showed Kilvin his marvelous arrowcatch. Such an amazing piece! And to think of the gold he will earn from it (even with cutting the price down to make it more commonplace for the people). Love Kvothe <3

I can't believe Kote had another trial to attend because of the incident with Ambrose. It wasn't even his fault! How was he to know he had called upon the name of the wind? While it seemed that things worked out for now, I'm worried what else is in store for him>_<

Oh, and that little trick with Chronicler was great. How does it feel when someone else tells 'your' story, eh? lol (hide spoiler)]

I think his inventions are great! I kind of wish we could have a few books in a side series just about the students in the university and their marvellous discoveries. I love the university, it sounds an amazing place to be!

These were my favourite scenes as well :) I like Elodin's lessons and I love the friendship between
Wilem, Simmon and Kvothe.

27% (or 25%? My copy is splitted, so I'm not sure :D) (view spoiler)[ Yes, I think Devi started the fire with a binding spell on the Kvothe puppet. As they didn't know what it was made of, she tried wax first, but the connection wasn't strong enough to start a fire. But it worked with clay.

I guess his door was warded too, he showed up after all. But the fire gave Kvothe an excuse to break the door and go into his rooms, so it doesn't matter if he knows someone break into his rooms, there are enough people there to vouch for him, that he only went inside to stop the fire. That would be a wonderful spin off, indeed! Even learning the antics of more of the professors would be interesting. I am excited to read The Slow Regard of Silent Things after I finish this one.

I have that book! I borrowed it off my dad, it's definitely on the list to read. I might try and get into it over Christmas since I've got a week off work.

A little bit of background;

I actually started reading Wise Man's Fear right after I finished Name of the Wind, but it was a long book and I was looking for some really specific things (namely, Kvothe's musical career, please and thank you) so I skimmed a lot. Till I reached (view spoiler)[Felurian, at least. Once I read about the post-Felurian "he now looks at women in a knowing" way sentence, I just noped out of there. (hide spoiler)]

I'm hoping my negative feelings have died down enough for me give the book a fair chance. I mean I still dislike the framing sections and I dream of skewering Bast with many iron implements, but I expected that. I really need to stop procrastinating and get to the Academy already.

lololol Did you read my earlier post? That was my noping moment, too. The book kind of jumped the shark. It's still an enjoyable read, but it went from a fun book about a boy who's adventures got turned into fable size legends, into a book about a perfect boy who's great at everything. Kvothe kind of lost all of his sweet underdog status.

I'm around 45% now and I really like the story so far, it's quite slow but the writing style is amazing... Rothfuss might not be the nicest guy around, but he sure knows how to write! I only now realised that I must have started the book some time ago. I thoght I stopped after book 1 as I first read the series years ago, but it seems like I continued on. I have no idea what will happen next, but while listen to the audiobook I often think 'Ah yes, I remember this scene!' But I'm sure I haven't finished the book, I'm curious where I stopped and when the deja-vu feeling will stop :)
