Kirin Decided to join this bad boy~

message 3: by Bea (new)

Bea (leore) I’d like to join in on this one but I want to reread The Name of The Wind first so is it possible to have one of these for that book as well as the novella?

message 4: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2647 comments I've been digging my heels in and not touching this series, not even buying the books, until book 3 comes out.

message 5: by Bea (new)

Bea (leore) I wish I could have that patience!

message 6: by Bea (new)

Bea | 2050 comments I will probably do a reread once the third book comes out in approximately 2035 😉
Love the series though, have fun reading it! :)

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I"ll probably join this one~
I've been re-reading this series in hopes that the third book will magically come out soon ^^;

Yeah it sounds like I'll love it too but the author has such a blasé attitude to finishing the series that I don't really trust him to ever finish so I'm holding off until I know one way or the other.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 4025 comments I'm planning on joining but I'll be a little late. Hope to start by the end of the week.

Katie K | 2335 comments Woot woot! Can’t wait to dig into this book ^^

message 13: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 4707 comments Just started! 5 chapters in and I'm loving it. So pleased to be back into this world!

It's probably going to take me a good few weeks to get through this since it's so large, I've got other reads and I've got a lot on after work all this week but I'm quite happy to just enjoy it slowly.

There's something about the writing, it's quite slow paced but I'm hanging on every word, dying to find out what's coming.

Charlie (charlieridley) | 4707 comments Chapter 17. Im seriously loving this! I cant explain exactly why, especially since not much has really happened, but im just hooked.

Isn't is just the best? You're right, Charlie, it's something about Rothfuss's writing style that just entices you to read more. The descriptions are always fantastic ^^

I'm about 25 chapters in (I put the book on hold for this BR) and most likely continue it after I get farther in Mistborn.

As for Chapter 6 (view spoiler)

message 18: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 4707 comments @Katie Ambrose is scum and I hope he gets expelled. Though I'm sure Kvothe makes a comment in book 1 about how Ambrose has something to do with him getting expelled so it's probably not going to be a happy ending

@Sha do it! You know you want to!

I'm 20 chapters in now. (view spoiler)

Right?! When chapter 20 came around (view spoiler)

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 4025 comments I am on chapter 7. For some reason this one isn't gripping me like the first book. I'm going to be slow in reading though. It's so long that I need to read my other brs between.

message 21: by Brian (new)

Brian | 1371 comments I agree. It’s not bad so far but seems to take a while to get me interested.

message 22: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 4707 comments I have no idea where I'm at chapter wise but I'm about 25% through and I'm really into it. I just want to live in the university. It sounds like an amazing place. I'd just stay there forever and learn all the things. (view spoiler)

message 23: by Katie (last edited Sep 06, 2018 08:11AM) (new)

Katie K | 2335 comments It's back to the Kingkiller Chronicles for me! :) I'm absolutely loving it! It's such a calming and yet thrilling read. For life at the university is never really a dull moment for our little survivor.

Being back with Kvothe and his group is like returning to good friends. Some of the banter is so laugh out loud funny. Especially with Master Elodin. Here are some of my favorite bits 27% in:

message 27: by Brian (new)

Brian | 1371 comments Without a doubt Rothfuss is a amazing writer (even if he might be a dick). However, I’m having trouble getting into this one as much as book 1. Some parts have me intrigued and others feel like they drag on. Maybe it’s just me. 😂

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 4025 comments So I kept reading a couple chapters, putting it down and moving in to other books for a few days, repeat. I don't even remember where I was in the book when I picked it up this morning but I'm now around chapter 50. I'm hooked. The rest of the book is going to breeze by. I'm around where (view spoiler)

I think his inventions are great! I kind of wish we could have a few books in a side series just about the students in the university and their marvellous discoveries. I love the university, it sounds an amazing place to be!

These were my favourite scenes as well :) I like Elodin's lessons and I love the friendship between
Wilem, Simmon and Kvothe.

27% (or 25%? My copy is splitted, so I'm not sure :D) (view spoiler)

That would be a wonderful spin off, indeed! Even learning the antics of more of the professors would be interesting. I am excited to read The Slow Regard of Silent Things after I finish this one.

The friendship between those boys is truly wonderful, I agree Sir Anni. ^^ And thank you for explaining their plan. That does make the most sense :)

I have that book! I borrowed it off my dad, it's definitely on the list to read. I might try and get into it over Christmas since I've got a week off work.

Excellent! It does look like a quick read. I've heard nothing but good things ^^

message 42: by Sha (new)

Sha | 1522 comments A little bit of background;

I actually started reading Wise Man's Fear right after I finished Name of the Wind, but it was a long book and I was looking for some really specific things (namely, Kvothe's musical career, please and thank you) so I skimmed a lot. Till I reached (view spoiler)

I'm hoping my negative feelings have died down enough for me give the book a fair chance. I mean I still dislike the framing sections and I dream of skewering Bast with many iron implements, but I expected that. I really need to stop procrastinating and get to the Academy already.

lololol Did you read my earlier post? That was my noping moment, too. The book kind of jumped the shark. It's still an enjoyable read, but it went from a fun book about a boy who's adventures got turned into fable size legends, into a book about a perfect boy who's great at everything. Kvothe kind of lost all of his sweet underdog status.

Hmmm... I don't think so (view spoiler)

I'm around 45% now and I really like the story so far, it's quite slow but the writing style is amazing... Rothfuss might not be the nicest guy around, but he sure knows how to write! (view spoiler)

I only now realised that I must have started the book some time ago. I thoght I stopped after book 1 as I first read the series years ago, but it seems like I continued on. I have no idea what will happen next, but while listen to the audiobook I often think 'Ah yes, I remember this scene!' But I'm sure I haven't finished the book, I'm curious where I stopped and when the deja-vu feeling will stop :)
