Curt Elderkin | 1 comments I read this book in 7th grade, and was in our school library. Recommended by a friend that didn't read as much as I did, but I really enjoyed this story. More rural centric, the locals were intolerant of the native boy, the friend ship was considered a bad idea by most of the other characters. I can't remember what else they had to overcome together, but something bigger than themselves.

"Sunset for Red Elk" (1967) by Roy White & Victor Mays?
- "Presents the story of a twelve-year-old boy and his friendship with an Indian youth in the Montana mountains at the beginning of the twentieth century." Includes illustrations and a map. http://www.worldcat.org/title/sunset-...

Curt, around what year did you read this book? A range of years is fine. This will help narrow down the search.
