Lyndsay (mekoveya) | 2 comments I would have read this book in the mid-late 90's. It was set sometime around the early 1900's, though could have been as late as the 50's. Set in America, the story was told from the point of view of the younger sister. Her older sister played either cello or violin and was excellent at it. I think she was supposed to be going off to a prestigious music school at the beginning of the book. I remember specifically one scene where the older sister was playing in a concert and at the end of the piece there was a bunch of commotion. One of the girls relatives proudly tells the younger sister that her older sister didn't collapse from her fever until she had finished the last note. Then the rest of the book deals with the younger sister coming to terms with the fact that her perfect older sister now has polio.
