That scene captures the pull of missing home, and what it was like to be an Irish immigrant in America. I thought Tony was a charming character, and Emory Cohen did a great job bringing him to life. Do you think Eilis would have returned to Tony & America if the scene with Miss Kelly had not taken place?

Sylvia Tedesco (sylviatedesco) | 4 comments Gosh....I guess I'm going to have to watch it again. How do you think the book compared with the movie? Maybe I'll read the book.

I just watched several youtube clips on Brooklyn and got updated on my memories. Here is Saoirse Ronan discussing your question.

Tony was such a charming guy.....I don't know, the village life was pretty constricting.
