Good evening folks.

Enjoying the footy...some great games so far & some surprising results too! Good luck to England tomorrow, not getting my hopes up yet, yes it's brand new team (had to be really after their fall from grace against Iceland 2 years ago!), but I shall be keeping a reserved face to their opening game, but may they do well this time round.

Rightyhoo...lets get on with it then: KJS wants us to nom 'Songs whose lyrics mention other musicians by name'.

A tricky one for me, cos I don't usually listen to lyrics much..so a bit of head scratching to do, as I haven't got anything lined up yet, but submit your noms in an orderly fashion if you will, please! :)

You should know where the closing date can be found..now, I hope!

And have a lovely...oh.. blahdee blah blah!

Thanks for checking Steve - and also for liking Perry. I love him! If Spotify has that album, "Johnny Ray's Downtown", I thoroughly recommend it.

I'll have to go for an American song.

Thanks Sj, there's a few live versions on youtube but none that I felt did them justice. There's also mislabled version where The Korgis version is advertised as by Stackridge. Thanks for trying but I'll stick with the Korgis version since it's still James Warren.

theDuke | 5788 comments Good evening...….good evening... &......good evening..to y'all!

Whatta fabulous evening it is too! The sun has been beaming all day..& England broke the mould today & thrashed nine shades of the stinky stuff out of the Panamanians... I've just about peeled myself off the ceiling...and we close yet another fine round of Themes..hurrah! Never thought i'd get so enthusiastic about a game I don't normally give two hoots about, with a team that are the antichrist as far as my Scots/Welsh blood goes.....but er….ah bollocks to it...... HARRY KAAAAAANNNNNEEEEEE!!!!

Bugger! Somebody scrape me off the ceiling again please!

Anyhoo….just restoring some composure for a moment...the little matter of the winning scores...…*clears throat*…..

Iiiiiiiiiiiiinnn 1st place then.....way out ahead from the rest of the pack....so much so, that the horse has buggered off into the misty distant, leaving a faint dust trail on the horizon.....with a stonking 35 points, it is...... 'Lady Day And John Coltrane by Gil Scott-Heron', which means this week's winner iiiiiiiiiiiiizzzzzz……...Tim! Ain't ya glad you changed your original nom now Tim! Very well done sir! :)

Winning the silver rosette, some half a minute behind the winner, but never-the-less, with a decent score of 23 points, North East West South by The Last Poets - it's the Scotish Rastafarian one, ladies & gents...and finally....

….garnering 19 points, the noblest of dukes, Stevie Wonder's Sir Duke, takes third place & Mr B gets the bronze.

Well done to all, mighty fine show it was! :-)

Edit: Oooo...just noticed that we also have a wooden spooner too...hard luck Helen, but here's ya pink spoon complete with a bow tied on it! :)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments I think wooden spoons are usually sort of... wood-coloured.

EDIT: Except for the ones I use to stir paint because I can't find a clean stick. In fact, I do have a pink one in the garage. Not much use as a spoon any more, mind.
