Tim | 1 comments This is going to be vague, but here goes:

- Young Adult I’m pretty sure
- The female protagonist poses with others in these living paintings (some kind of cultural thing?), and she is especially good at this
- There is a criminal element to it, murders I think
- She performs better at these tableaux vivants when she looks at herself in a mirror
- I believe there is a male detective/cop figure but this might be wrong
- I probably read this around 2007

I’ve looked everywhere for this but I have so little to go on!

Bobby (bobbyb-aka-plarry) | 24 comments Not a total fit, but there is a series of Austen-esque fantasy novels by Mary Robinette Kowal called the "Glamourist Histories" in which tableau vivants play a large role. Magic is called glamour in these books. The first of these is Shades of Milk and Honey, although there are five all told. There are intrigue, spies, a Napoleonic adventure, etc., in various of the books.
