JoAnn | 96 comments Book has a part in it where one of the protagonists travel to Thailand(?) to find the root of the killer who has melded with a god(?). Scene where the killer(?) is set on fire (injured) and crawls into an abandoned temple. Healed and infused with some of the god's power? Maybe during a war, possible PTSD
Maybe read this about 20-30 years ago.

SamSpayedPI | 2075 comments Maybe Koko by Peter Straub? (Only about a third of the description fits, but with all the question marks I thought it a possibility).

JoAnn | 96 comments Is there a scene in a temple where an injured person gets healed? If not then Koko is not the book.

JoAnn, does that mean you found it (if so, tell us so we can shelve it), or you are no longer interested in finding it? In which case we will move this to Abandoned.
