Dvora Lovely. Anything created in 1915 that includes wisteria tends to be lovely.

These are from Parr's 2012 Paris series, which also covered fashion shows, night clubs and Paris Plage, all places where people like to see and to be seen. Very fitting company for Mona Lisa and her admirers. ^.^

That's a nice chunk of change. But surprising small compared to the Barnett Newman we looked at last month...

Dvora Thanks. These are nice, but somehow not quite on the mark. I think it's the colors; maybe they've changed over the years. They feel stale. Wisteria in the fall doesn't work!

I know what you mean. The muted colours and dark wood make it seem figé (still?) and carry a sort of distance, like in a haze, possibly nostalgic but most likely just stylised or sanitised... Blah I can't put my finger on it but it just feels like the décor it is rather than a celebration of nature. Or maybe it's just a bad photograph. ^^

message 46: by Dvora (new)

Dvora The picture on the left might be of wisteria, I can't tell. The one on the right, which appears again below, I think, looks like a forest in the fall. The only wisteria I see is the carving of the woodwork of the room. That's pretty, but for me, it has nothing to do with the images they have within. As you say, Blah.
