Marja Verschoor-Meijers (marja_meijers) | 449 comments I am always reading several books at the same time, so it will be hard to pick favorite ones. But I will have to think about books that changed my life, or at least have had great impact.... hhmmm.
Good Morning Holy Spirit... for sure.
Good Morning, Holy Spirit

Susan (susanrohrer) | 284 comments I've always loved The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. What a deeply moving true story.

The Hiding Place The Triumphant True Story of Corrie Ten Boom by Corrie ten Boom

Susan (susanrohrer) | 284 comments I read it in college and its impact has stayed with me all these years.

message 8: by Anita (new)

Anita Estes (neatwriter) | 11 comments Yes, The Practice of the Presence of God is lifechanging, but This Present Darkness woke me up to the spiritual realm and the power of prayer.

Susan (susanrohrer) | 284 comments Yes, though This Present Darkness is fictional, it presents an existing spiritual reality.

This Present Darkness (Darkness, #1) by Frank E. Peretti

Bob Palumbo | 9 comments Hello Group....some of my favorite non-fiction Christian titles include ”The Great Divorce” by C. S. Lewis.....”The Book of Mysteries” by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn....”Living On The Ragged Edge” by Charles Swindoll....”Nearing Home” by Billy Graham...a newer title, ”God & Thrones” by Carl Gallups.

I am also a writer of Christian non-fiction, getting ready to release my third Christian none-fiction title. And as they always say, ”Write what you love.” Christian non-fiction is what I love to read.

BOB PALUMBO

Susan (susanrohrer) | 284 comments I'm a C. S. Lewis fan too, Bob. One book of his that really struck a chord with me was A Grief Observed. I'm an author (of far lesser note) too. Beyond how that book spoke to me as a human being, it continues to inspire the kind of bone-deep honesty that elevated his writing.

On another note, be sure to use our Author Meet and Greet section's threads to let us know about your books. You'll find specific threads for announcing new releases and promoting older ones there.

A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis

Bob Palumbo | 9 comments Oh yes, Susan, ”A Grief Observed” is so beautiful...especially because of the real life experiences he went through at that time.

Thank you for telling me about the Meet and Greet section.

I would love to participate in that!!

BOB

Christopher Long (christopher_long) | 4 comments Although it's been in release for several years, my favorite Christian non-fiction title remains, "Save Me From Myself" by Korn guitarist, Brian "Head" Welch. Riveting and refreshingly real.

message 14: by Dale (new)

Dale Arand | 4 comments First published in 1977 Sheldon Vanauken's "A Severe Mercy" is one of my favorite books. If you like excellent writing, an engaging story, and a powerful Christian message then consider this book. A bonus for C.S. Lewis fans is that it contains eighteen letters by C.S. Lewis to Vanauken.

Marja Verschoor-Meijers (marja_meijers) | 449 comments Is it possible to pick a favorite? There are so many good books out there! I would opt for a Top 10 :)

Susan (susanrohrer) | 284 comments Anyone with a top ten list of your favorites?

message 18: by Maria (new)

Maria Ruiz | 2 comments The Holy Bible still No.1...it still thrills and captivates me immensely...

Unlocking The Bible by David Pawson...I wish I had read it 30 years earlier! So easy to read despite it’s size, a very balanced and informative overview of the Bible, not a verse by verse, more like a Book by Book. Excellent!

50 Christians every should know... Chronological short history of all of the greats and their lives, going back to the Reformation times. So amazingly interesting!

Foxe’s Book of Martyrs...Wow!

So many! I’ll add more as I think of them but truly I find it hard to read fiction when there’s so much reality to find out about...

Remain blessed as you remain in Christ Jesus our Lord ❤️

Marja Verschoor-Meijers (marja_meijers) | 449 comments Hi Maria, I enjoy David Pawson's books as well. Some of them have been translated into the Dutch language (I am from Holland). Foxe's book of martyrs I do not know, that might be quite interesting. Thanks for mentioning it!

Robert Flanagan | 2 comments I have so many Christian books I enjoy. One is "Too Deep for Words" by Thelma Hall (Paulist Press). It's a terrific introduction to Lectio Divina.

message 24: by Marja, Founder/Moderator (new)

Marja Verschoor-Meijers (marja_meijers) | 449 comments I can imagine yes. I have read a book on Lectio Divina years ago, don't remember the writer... maybe it was by Eugene Peterson, not sure. I had never heard of Lectio Divina. I found it quite helpful and interesting.

Susan (susanrohrer) | 284 comments I hadn't heard of the Lectio Divina term either, but I've enjoyed reading the Bible this way for many years.
