Yes it's different. This is to sign up to say you'regoing to read and discuss one or more of the August group reads in the group read discussion threads. book buddies is just between you and your partner. Although sometimes partners do choose to read the BOTM as their BB pick, your BB pick can be anything you and partner pick, not just one of the books that wins the poll.
