Ed Erwin | 82 comments What should we do if an author's name is misspelled on the title page of their own book?

Stefan Wul was a French novelist. In one of his books translated to English his name was incorrectly spelled Stephan Wul.

I "corrected" the name on the entry so I could combine it with other editions and only later noticed it was spelled wrong on the book cover and title page. Should we list both spellings as names?

Yes. It should be treated as a pen name. See https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/4...

Thanks. I attempted to add "Stephan Wul" as an additional author on the book page, but it was not successful. Perhaps this is because I had earlier replaced "Stephan" with "Stefan". I'll have to let an expert fix it.

Just to be clear, "Stephan" is not a name that he ever used intentionally. After his death, this bad amateur translation was printed which didn't even bother to check that the name was spelled correctly.

Too similar author names need a workaround for both being added to the same book. I've added Stephan Wul: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...
