kvon | 56 comments A book I read as a teen, talking about a migrant family, in the US early 20th century. Told from the POV of the daughter. I remember a scene where they're at a church dinner, and it starts to hail and destroys all the crops. It might have also had a scene at a county fair where she's deciding whether to keep roaming with her family or settle in town.

Wkd | 51 comments Could it be "Blue Willow" by Doris Gates? I read it years ago. Thought it might have been a Lois Lenski book...Sounds familiar!

kvon | 56 comments I can't tell from the amazon page, but it might be that one. The publication date would be right. And the local library has a copy. I'll let you know, thanks!

Wendy | 52 comments Another one this might be is Judy's Journey by Lois Lenski.
