So Joyland won the poll and will be the book we are reading during the month of Jun!

As Joyland does not have chapters as such we have decided to split it up via pages instead. Here you can start discussing your thoughts so far on pages 1-94

Edit: As we all have different editions Sarah and I thought it would be a good idea to add the sentence we are starting each section from.
First Sentence: 'I had a car, but on most days in that fall of 1973 I walked to Joyland from Mrs Shoplaw's Beachside Accommodations in the town of Heaven's Bay.'

So I brought Joyland today and I’m currently on page 72... being completely honest the first 20-30 pages where making me think that I wouldn’t like this book. But then it all changed and I am hooked already.

Good things so far...

Same! I started the book yesterday and I was a bit bored with the back-story about Wendy Keegan.

Ditto! It seems a bit unnecessary considering what happens later on in the book. #tinyspoiler
I get its part of Devs character development but surely not that much detail?

I want more about the mysterious ghost!!

Tiffany B. | 11 comments I agree that it drags on a bit but then again it made me think absolutely my first broken heart and I found myself really bonding with Jonesy! I was really hating Wendy and had to remind myself that she is prob not going to show up much more after the beginning

Jillian Martinson | 24 comments Yes I was looking forward to reading it and then was unsure if I should love it or just like it. But I’m flying through it now that the story gets exciting. I love the characters so far. All so interesting

Jillian Martinson | 24 comments Yea I also don’t like Wendy. What a jerk haha

Hey everyone! As we all have different editions and this book has no chapters Sarah and I thought it would be a good idea to add the first sentence of each section we are starting from. The pages should match up if you have a Hard Crime Illustrated edition.

Page 1: 'I had a car, but on most days in that fall of 1973 I walked to Joyland from Mrs Shoplaw's Beachside Accommodations in the town of Heaven's Bay.'
Page 95: '"Hear-hear!" Tom said, raising his own can.'
Page 188: 'The photo showed Eddie and a plain-faced women standing in the weedy front yard of an anonymous tract house.'
