Here is the tentative schedule. Is this too aggressive? I know some people want to read a LOT of books before the PBS shows airs in the Fall. But others might prefer a more relaxed schedule of new reads, or to just skip every other read. In any event, ALL the discussions will remain open as long as we're here, so if you're rea ding a book 4 weeks after the start date, you probably won't be alone.

Feedback please?

Linda | 915 comments My $.02......if we do two books each month, maybe the "chucker", the long book, could be July 1-30, and with one smaller book July 1-15 and another July 15-30. I don't know that I could do "War and Peace" in two weeks, even in summer. Life gets in the way

Roseanne Personally I intend to go at my own pace. I don’t think it is realistic for me to think I will read all on the schedule. Especially when we all haven’t read all the same ones. Of the 29 I have already read I only intend to reread maybe 2. Yes I want to read them all but I don’t expect that to happen by the end of the summer.

As for War and Peace, I loved it and spent many nights staying up late reading it and it still took me 3 months to read.

My advice - pace yourself, enjoy the journey.

KP | 26 comments Thank you for doing this. Facebook is not good for discussions. This is much better. How about 6 or 8 weeks for the big books. I need the motivation of a group to read War and peace, don Quixote, or count of monte cristo.

Ok maybe I’ll wait until winter to start war and peace.

Good advice,....3 months is not too much to ask out of one's life for a book, correct?

I agree. Since work often requires that I read more than one thing at a time, and I know War and Peace has a long list of characters, and it's 1000 pages, I'd need at least 5 or 6 weeks with it. I'd read it whenever. My f2f book club tends to read one very long one for August-September, since we don't meet in August, to give the non-native speakers extra time with a text that's a bit longer.

I've read over 50 of the books on the list so, depending on which book(s) we select, I may be sitting out any I've read and don't intend to re-read. I always have at least three books on my list along with my daily Bible and devotional reading and that means I'm pretty busy with my bookworm habit. That's not to say I won't be watching the discussions. I enjoy reading what other people have to say about literature. Happy reading, Everyone.
