Jessika (jessika_56) I joined this group mid-May, and didn't set any real goals for the month, but here's where I'm at.

1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month? Haha, no.

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue? Nope!

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many? Yes, I finished F is for Fugitive, so have moved ahead a bit there. I've actually already read G, so I'll be on to H in June. Also, I reread (audiobook) The Well of Ascension, #2 in the Mistborn series.

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them? None in May :(

5. Overall summary of your reading month? I read only 4 books total. A normal month for me would be more like 6-8 books. I'm a little intimidated by this group, as many of you read 10+ books each month!

Melissa (melissasd) | 1491 comments 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
Nope

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I started the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness and I will definitively by continuing.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
I moved forward in the Throne of Glass series.

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I gave Throne of Glass 5 stars, but I enjoyed all my reads this month.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
3 down this month, but that's pretty good since I had company and my daughter graduated high school.

Oh, please don’t be intimidated! We’ve got a great mix of members whose reading ranges from a few books a month to double digits. Before I retired, I read one book a month. Also, many of us listen to audiobooks, which can really pump up our numbers if you’re listening while cleaning, shopping, cooking, etc.

It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. And, we’re interested in YOU! Bring it.

Congratulations on your daughter’s graduation!!! That’s fantastic.

Great having you join the Throne of Glass series discussions. You make a difference. Even though I didn’t enjoy this one as much, I think it’s a compelling world and the audio format impacted my enjoyment. Looking forward to the next book, especially since you and Lauren pointed out some critical clues I missed.

Jessika welcome. We really not about the numbers. As Jonetta said it about the enjoyment of reading. Some books can put you in book handover because it was thagod where other you need to read something to clear that disaster out.

Michelle | 2601 comments 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
I managed to complete 2- Bred for love trilogy & Gypsy heroes
Up to date just 1 - Hawks MC

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I did start one series. Straight guys by Revella Hawthorne. And I've moved forward and will read more.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
3. Suncoast society by Tymber Dalton
Hades Hangmen by Tillie Cole
Kalquor world by Tracy St. John

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
None really. I read some great twist or great imagery or great banter but nothing that'll want to read again and again or had a great emotive impact.

5. Overall summary of your reading month
I think I'm hitting my stride as far as moving forward in series. And also having a healthy dose of new authors or new series. I still have a ways to go with getting to every series I still want to start this year : those pesky new books that other makes me go "must read". That and finding the first book of a series and forgetting I was busy with another one .
I like what I'm reading and that's all I really want at the moment.

I think you are hitting your stride, Michelle. Looks like you had a good month, especially as you only started one new series and progressed in it. Kudos!

1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
I completed 2 and got up to date in 3 series:
Shore Leave Cafe by Abbie Williams (complete)
The Bourbon Kings by J. R. Ward (complete)
Compass Cove by Jeannie Moon (UTD)
Angie Pallorino by Loreth Anne White (UTD)
The Hudson Sisters by Mariah Stewart

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I started one, The Caliendo Resort by Shannyn Leah. I won’t be continuing.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
I moved forward in 4 series:
Rizzoli & Isles by Tess Gerritsen
Gaslight Mystery by Victoria Thompson
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Blood Brothers by Rebecca Zanetti

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I actually had three this month. Christina Lauren does it again with Love and Other Words, which was so, so good. The Girl in the Moss was hard to put down and an almost perfect blend of strong characterization, mystery, suspense and good storytelling. The final book in the Shore Leave Cafe, Return to Yesterday delivered on a wonderful story.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
I read 15 books this month and enjoyed a really eclectic mix of genres. With three 5-star reads, it was a happy reading experience. And, I made big dents in my series reading.
Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren The Girl in the Moss (Angie Pallorino, #3) by Loreth Anne White Return to Yesterday (Shore Leave Cafe, #9) by Abbie Williams

I agree completely, book 2 is a little weaker, but bridges the overall plot from book 1 to book 3.

Sanderson is one of my favorite writers. Have you read the second trilogy, starting with The Alloy of Law? Technically Mistborn #4, 5 and 6, but with different main characters that take place further into the future. Those three are also great, if you haven't read them yet!

Yes, I really enjoyed both! You need to be a fan of Regency romances for A Useful Woman, though. There's a lot of etiquette. (But plenty of scandal too.)

I am one of those who makes no distinction between the Georgian, Regency or Victorian eras of historical romance. They all had levels of restriction that factors in the romance.

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?

I started two new series: A Deadly Affection (Dr. Genevieve Summerford Mystery #1) by Cuyler Overholt The Far Empty by J. Todd Scott

I'm still undecided about whether I'll continue with either even though I liked them both. I'm just leery of starting even more new series.

I moved forward in three series. Later Gator (Miss Fortune Mystery #9) by Jana Deleon Memories of Ice (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #3) by Steven Erikson God Emperor of Didcot (Chronicles of Isambard Smith, #2) by Toby Frost

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?

5 stars: Memories of Ice (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #3) by Steven Erikson - just great world building, memorable characters, writing that makes you think, and scenes that wring all the emotion out of you

Less book then normal (7 books) because I didn't read a lot in my holiday (one week). And I started a book at the end of the month I had trouble getting through so I started another book so I could swith between the two but now I didn't finish both last month but I will this month (already finished one of them).

Yes, the series is wonderful especially books #2 and #3 although #1 and #4 are also good. Kleypas's historical romances have always been more appealing to me than her contemporary works. I'm listening to Sugar Daddy right now and this is all the more apparent.

Sugar Daddy is more like contemporary fiction with romantic elements and a saga. Once I adjusted my expectations, the story made more sense. The next two books, however, are very good.
