Final thoughts (and reviews if you like) on An Accidental Murderer (Sydney Legal #1) by Chris Taylor An Accidental Murderer by Chris Taylor

Rob | 344 comments This is so not my genre. Melodramatic romance with a generous helping of soft porn. I really struggled with this. It started well and it ended well but the bit in the middle had me rolling my eyes to the heavens.
I really hate giving negative commentary but this did nothing for me.

Carolyn | 8448 comments So glad it's not just me Rob! Romance is not my usual genre either but I was hoping for a good legal drama along with the romance. Unfortunately the legal case was pretty uneventful and didn't go anywhere (except for a little twist at the end) and the relationship between the two lawyers was the main story.

Sounds disastrous guys! Sorry for the bad choice :(

Carolyn | 8448 comments Not at all Brenda! Gotta try new writers to find ones you like and I'd been wanting to try this writer - I have her Sydney hospital series on my kindle, which I'll still read sometime.

This book has quite a lot of high ratings so it looked good. I was just disappointed that the legal drama side didn't feature more - I love a good legal drama. However, I'm sure some of our readers who love romance will enjoy it more than me. It's just not my genre - although having said that I recently enjoyed a really good historical romance (The Winter Sea) where the romance works really well as part of the story.

I really am enjoying the Sydney Hospital series Carolyn!

Heather | 363 comments I gave it 3 ★ because it's not my genre. Although I do read Allison Brennan and she writes romance/crime novels but they are a lot darker

Brenda, it is not a wrong choice. Only that most readers like to read books that are pure romance or pure suspense. Romantic Suspense is not everyone favourite Genre. I believe that it is a genre you either love or hate. I fell in love with this authors after reading the Profiler book one in the Munro Family series. I have read all her books.

I could relate with the plot of An Accidental Murderer because of my experiences in nursing homes and have friends working in Universities law faculties that look after young people like Ben Fitzgerald and Abby Brown to ensure they achieve their dreams to be lawyers.

And everyone is different in their reading choices Jenny :) Which is a good thing!

I agree with you, Brenda.

Steve Maxwell (goodreadscomstevem) This book promised so much but failed to deliver. Part relationship part legal drama with a smattering of erotica. This is not my type of book. Only gave it 1 star.

This seems to be the general consensus Steve.

Jeanette | 399 comments So glad I found this section. My review I thought about and deleted as much negativity as I could. I really did not like this book at all. If only the author had kept her focus and created the story line more, delving into the overseas nursing students. Having heard directly from an exam room supervisor regarding the cheating by overseas non English speaking students, this author could have developed a really fabulous story, sadly she became lazy and added all that ridiculous erotica that only a man could dream up?. In future I will be checking out reviews before purchasing a book.

The author is a female Jeanette - Chris is Christine :)

Jeanette | 399 comments OK Ha thanks, a very imaginative female erotica author, maybe missing her real genre. The cover led me astray....!😁😁😁😨😨

I haven't read any of this series (and won't read this one now) but really enjoy the Sydney Hospital series which most certainly doesn't have any erotica in it - I wouldn't read it if it did!

Jeanette | 399 comments Oh, had a look at the hospital series but noted on the cover, "gritty romance"! this sort of description says a big N O to me. Another title The Perfect Husband! Oh dear, a Women's Weekly read but then again my sister would love it. Thanks so much for the info. It's nice to discuss books and I love Goodreads and I think Moderators do a fabulous job.

Thanks Jeanette :) I don't recall any "gritty romance" as such - yes there's a love interest in the stories, but if it goes inside the bedroom I will generally skim anyway ;)
