message 1: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen Pike sat in a darkened corner of the bar slowly drinking a cup of coffee. For the umpteenth time, Randall the bartender, had insisted upon proof of age, so Deen had once again settled for coffee.

He leaned his head back against the booth and closed his eyes. It had been a long night, a bank robbery foiled, a child removed from her abductors and returned home, and then a mugging stopped. Deen was exhausted but it was a good feeling.

At this time of the morning, the bar was empty except for Deen. He held his cup up and called to the bartender, "Hey Randall, how about a warm-up?" The bartender reached back and placed the coffee pot on the bar and went back to wiping glasses. Deen sighed and got up to refill his cup.

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments The roar of a motorcycle filled the mostly empty parking lot. The rider only barely stopped the bike before it smashed into the concrete post in front of the space. The rider paused a moment before cutting the engine, removing the key, and pocketing it, while getting off the bike. With a sigh the rider removed the custom made helmet revealing a woman with flowing hair of Silver dusted Onyx and deep Emerald eyes. She turned away from the bike holding the helmet in her hand as she walked to the door. She smirked as she felt someone watching. She paused looking back before opening the door. *Just let them try.* she thought as she entered. She stepped into the quiet of the bar. *Finally quiet* She thought to herself as she walked up to the bar. "Hey, Love. A rum, please......" She said sitting a the bar.

Brian (oscart) ((Pretty kitty))

message 8: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen perked up when silver haired skirt walked in, he rarely saw members of the female persuasion in here. He watched her walk across to the bar and definitely felt a 'vibe' coming from her. There is definitely more than meets the eye here. "Put it on my tab, Randall," he called to the bartender with a nod for the lady.

message 9: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments She turned to the voice that spoke as she grabbed the drink. "Thanks..." She said in a smooth voice. She smiled before she drank it down without a signal flinch. Then sat the glass on the bar. She stood and walked towards the man that spoken. She was surprised to see that anyone else was up at this time.

message 10: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen rose from the booth as she approached, a cautious smile on his face. "Name's Deen, and I certainly would remember you, so you must be new to the neighborhood."

message 11: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Just arrived actually, I'm Bastet." She said with a gentle smile. "From New Orleans.... seems like a nice place."

message 12: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen grinned sheepishly, "It has it's moments. So what brings you to the big apple? Can't be Josie's." He indicated that she should sit in the booth and waited.

message 13: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments Bastet moved gracefully into the booth to sit. She shrugged. "Needed a change of scenery..... I haven't been here in years." She said."Wanted to see what had changed...."

message 14: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen sat opposite her and shook his head sadly. "Things got blown up. Heroes died. Just another Saturday night in the Big Apple."

message 15: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Sounds like a blast..." She said softly. "Reminds me of home... but in a slightly different way." Bastet studied him. "Has there been any other trouble?" She was curious, there had been rumors that somethings that weren't the norm going on.

message 16: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "It's New York, there's always trouble." Deen told her with a wry grin, "Keep's us on our toes, that's for sure." He sipped his coffee and studied her. "New heroes have been popping up lately to keep tabs on the trouble makers. I'm sure, that soon we'll see a resurgence of villains to go along."

message 17: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "There's no doubt." She replied with a chuckle. "It should be interesting to say the least." She watched him. "Which one are you?" She asked bluntly.

message 18: by Brian (last edited Jun 06, 2018 09:02AM) (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen stared at this newcomer, carefully trying to select the right words. "What makes you think I am more than just a lonely bar patron?"

message 19: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Just a feeling I have..." Bastet said with a shrug. "But then many aren't what they seem to be... "

message 20: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen nodded. "Well, I do what I can for the 'white hats', but I'm no Thor or Hulk, just a little guy trying to do my part. I go by Patch." He eyed her intently, "You?"

message 21: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Me..." she thought a moment. "I'm a bit harder to explain... Lets just say that I'm someone who has an interest in helping others."

message 22: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) He sat back in the booth and continued to study her. "Well that could be taken any number of ways. Helping others do what, might be the next question from the suspicious mind." He grinned. "Fortunately at this hour, I'm not really all that suspicious."

message 23: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "That might be a good thing.... Not knowing." She shrugged. "It's one thing to deal with the fact of what they already know." She sighed. "Imagine knowing that the thing that scares you the most is real.... is another thing." She smiled back. "But then I'm from New Orleans, home of the unusual...."

(Sorry it took so long for me to reply)

message 24: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "Yeah, I'm kind of a take-it-as-it-happens guy, if you know what I mean. Lots of big scary's out there, and I don't want to meet them alone, if I can help it." He drained his cup of coffee and lifted it to Randall, who again set the pot on the bar. With a sigh, Deen rose. "You want another?" he offered.

message 25: by Priscilla (last edited Jun 08, 2018 06:16PM) (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "I do and sure, I could use another..." Bastet with a sigh. "Thanks." She was glad for the down time but she knew it wouldn't last. She smiled gently.

message 26: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen made his way to the bar and returned with another drink for Bastet and another coffee for himself. "So, what have you been doing since you got to town?" He sat opposite her again and gave his his most charming grin.

message 27: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Nothing yet...... I haven't even got to my hotel yet." She smiled taking her drink from him. "Give it time and I'm sure trouble will find me.

message 28: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen nodded semi-wisely, "Around here, that's a 100% given. Trouble will find you. You look like a lady who can take care of herself, but if you get in a jam, I'll try to help you out."

message 29: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "It always does...." She chuckled. "I'm not afraid to ask for help....." She sat her drink down. "I learned the hard way...." She remember the scar that she recently had received down her back.

message 30: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "I may not look very tough, and I'm certainly no heavy hitter," He reached into the bag he wore on his hip and pulled out a saber that shimmered in the light. "I usually have a surprise or two with me."

message 31: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "That's always good." Bastet said. "At least you're not consider easy prey....." She chuckled. "That's clearly not the case...." Her eyes sparkled. "But they never learn....

message 32: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "Who is this 'they' you mention?" Deen looked around the bar for danger and slid the saber back into the bag.

message 33: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments She slightly shrugged. "Just those that assume that I'm an easy victim..." She said softly. "And some of the scum that likes to hang around and cause trouble.

message 34: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "I know some of those myself," Deen agreed, "keeping the streets safe for the little guy is a never ending job."

message 35: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Yep..." She said as the door to the bar opened and others walked in. She didn't bother to see who it was. "Once I'll be doing for a long time...." She gave a sly smile. "The crazy part is I've actually started enjoying it..."

message 36: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "I'm not say I enjoy it, but I definitely get satisfaction from being on the right side of the law." He grinned ruefully, "I wasn't always."

message 37: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "So have many others but then they can always change.... But then there are others..." She paused. "Those who are pushed into it ..." Bastet clutched her hand into a fist. "Those who driven to make those who wrong others pay....." She looked away. "So senseless lives aren't lost...." She then picked up her glass and drink the liquid in one gulp. She took a breath.

message 38: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "You are very passionate about this, aren't you?" Deen asked. "I take it that it's rather personal with you. Anybody particular you are looking for?"

message 39: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments Bastet gave a mischievous smile. "It is and anyone that was involved will not survive the encounter with me....." She had taken her vengeance on the actual killer who said there were others involved but there was no clear reason on why. She sighed. "But I also do it to protect others..."

message 40: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen grinned. "But of course," he chuckled briefly, most of the supers he had met were no quite so intense. "But even we need to let off a little steam and get crazy now and then, I'm good for those nights as well" he winked.

message 41: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Yes we do." She chuckled. "You get to most nights in New Orleans..." she paused. "But it's been somewhat quiet...." She smiled. "So I decided to take a ...... vacation of sorts."

message 42: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "To New York City?" He looked aghast, "The bombed out capital of the world." He shook his head, "What was Beirut fully booked?"

message 43: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "No but there were some ugly faces I didn't feel like seeing." She said bluntly. "I figured this would be the last place they would look for me...." She shrugged. "Only few people know where I am..... everyone else thinks I'm somewhere else..." Bastet chuckled. "Last I heard I was in Atlantis....."

message 44: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "Always wanted to see Atlantis," Deen commented, "Though I heard it got hit too." He sat back thinking, "That and the Blue Area of the Moon, that's on my bucket list too."

message 45: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Maybe one day you will..." Bastet told him. "Maybe I'll go with you." She smiled gently. "You never know....."

message 46: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) "Well it's a nice dream, but for now there is enough to keep me busy around here." He drained his coffee cup and stood. "May I escort you home?"

message 47: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments "Sure." Bastet replied and stood also. "I would love the company."

message 48: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Deen extended his arm and led her from the bar and out onto the street. "Where to, m'lady?"

message 49: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 120 comments Bastet took his arm and let him lead her out of the bar into the street. She looked at Deen. "Not sure, the only place I know how to get to is my hotel..... other than that, I don't have a clue." She smiled. "We could always go for a ride and see where it takes us..." Bastet said looking at her motorcycle.

message 50: by Brian (new)

Brian (oscart) Standing next to her motorbike were a couple both dressed in black. The woman was holding a large hammer in her hands and the man's hands were oversized and clenched into two very large fists.

"Hey pipsqueak," the man snarled, "I told you we'd find you.
