MargieD2017 | 277 comments Plainsong is a tale of community support that embraces the needs of the souls living through broken family issues. Kent Haruf discloses the lives of a pregnant teenager, two young boys abandoned by their mother, two old bachelor brothers working their farm and a few lonely individuals that live in the small town of Holt, Colorado with a minimalistic kindness that protects their innermost thoughts while allowing us to peer into their daily actions and their discovery of family in the members of the community. I found this book touching and heartwarming without the syrupy sing-song patter that often accompanies a novel such as this. It was a most enjoyable read.
