Under an English Heaven by Donald E. Westlake

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) I am unable to find a copy of this book. Amazon wants a lot of money for it.

I have a feeling I won't be able to get it through the library system, but I'll try

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) Anguilla has 6,000 or so people, according to 'Under an English Heaven, written in 1972.

It is 16 miles long, 3 miles wide. Why on Earth is this tiny place interesting? It is because Westlake wrote this book about the political fight the people of Anguilla fought to stay under the Flag of England, even after England tried to give it independence. English soldiers invaded Anguilla twice, expecting trouble, instead they were cheered and given gifts.

If you like politics, this book is great fun. Utter deadly serious political infighting with utter unexpected ridiculousness.
