Nice list, Michelle! Watch out for those impulse reads:)

Michelle | 2601 comments Ladies. The months is only one day old and I'm already adding to the impulse. I suppose I forgot that challenge are sometimes just the fiery book in a series. So I'm reading enough to not irritate ( because I need to know what's next) then move on to the next challenge read.

Michelle | 2601 comments Zack (Areion Fury MC #1) by Esther E. Schmidt Deeds (Broken Deeds MC #1) by Esther E. Schmidt Dams (Areion Fury MC #2) by Esther E. Schmidt Broke (Broken Deeds MC #2) by Esther E. Schmidt Frederick by Esther E. Schmidt

So I read the first book as part of a challenge ( yippee it was a 1click freebie as well, love clearing out the TBR shelf ) and it was a winner. Annoying that it turning out to be a few series all intertwined but okay I understand why the separation. The heroines are all string ,sassy and you want them as your friend. Except for the first one they are almost instaloves bybiker alpha men that still know how to treat a lady they love. Yes it's not the 1% biker genre but what there is of the biker world is enough to keep it interesting. The authors writing flows and the story is fast. Touches of mystery. I really love this be author and series. I'm doing a binge weekend

Oh well there goes the plan ...

Michelle | 2601 comments GRIFFIN Lost Disciples MC by Paula Cox Vandal Iron Bones MC by Laura Day

Let's start by say both of these were free. And both were picked to complete a challenge. So I knew changes were more than good I wasn't going to enjoy it. Hate when that becomes reality.

Griffin - I couldn't even read the whole book. The style of writing was off putting for me. you know , one of those book were your mind keeps wondering off and you'd rather be doing anything else but read that book

Vandal - this wasn't any better. But at least the characters didn't annoy , the style of writing was better but again I just wasn't engaged. This I think was more due to the fact that I couldn't connect to the characters. They were just to hard and for me, nothing to like about them.

I know that Paula Cox I will not be reading any of her books and Laura day ? Not sure but I'm not continuing with this series.

Michelle | 2601 comments Picking Up the Pieces (Broken Book 1) by E.L. Green

A buddy read with the biker babes

I thought let me fit in the buddy reads I now had time beciuase I finished the other books so quickly.
Let start by saying this is a new author. And I'm undecided about if I liked this book enough so I'm going to read one more book by this author to make a firm decision.

The problem for me was that the heroine has issues. Depression , low self esteem, etc. After having lost her husband and baby in an accident things get worse. This book really dealt with the subject of what happens when you just can't get out of that mind set. And that was just too much for me. Mostly due to personal reasons. I was also expecting a biker book and this was more about the lady having to fight her demons. All good and well but I'm in the wrong mindset for this book.
This was so much about the lady that I don't even know how I feel about the guy. I know I liked him, he stuck with her even with all her drama. He's a biker with issues of his own that recognized her problems, even called her out in it ,but in the end it was so overwhelmed by hers I know that he was a stand up guy.

In the end this get a low rating from me because my expectations of the genre wasn't met and the rest didn't make me overlook that fact b

BOTM Low Angst love group

I love this author. She has this way of grabbing hold of me and I find myself finishing the book before I know it. It has everything in it. Lovely main characters, crazy family, great plot and great flow of writing.
And honestly after the disastrous last few reads this was just what I needed.

Michelle | 2601 comments Through With Love (Suncoast Society, #71) by Tymber Dalton Judgment of the Moon and Stars (Suncoast Society, #72) by Tymber Dalton

This is a continuing series. These are #70 & #71 respectively. And honestly these two aren't really part of that group. Just mentioned really.

Through with love was just the background story of a trio mentioned the the previous book. And was actually enjoyable to read. Was also a co pelted storyline. I might hear of them in further books but that's it

This author has been chopping up her storylines. So some span across 2-3 books. And this is how this one felt. Judgement of the moon and stars felt unfinished and rushed towards the end.

I think this author is under deadlines of bringing out two books a month , for whatever reason and hence the storyline splits. For the most part is not bad as I've waited a few books and read them all together. But if I had to wait for the next one? Might grow irritating after a while.

Michelle | 2601 comments Rocked (Lost in Oblivion, #1) by Taryn Elliott Rock, Rattle & Roll (Lost in Oblivion, #1.5) by Taryn Elliott

Both of these were freebies and read as challenge reads. And those are not always good things I started this with trepidation but was pleasantly surprised. I liked the writing and the story wasn't bad either. A great start to a series. And the novella that follows was also good. Short but had that felling of a real life story . Not just after the HEA everything is okay. The MC were believable and I was rooting for them. Seems I have a bit of a theme going , unbeknownst to me, of the H being the one fighting for his love and the h being very reluctant.

Being the first in the series a lot of character building for the others also happened and that just made me want to read the rest of the series.

Michelle, there is a full length prequel to this series that is really important. It’s Seduced and is $.99. It gives you the full backstory and setup for the band and series.

Michelle | 2601 comments Broken Course (Wrecked and Ruined, #3) by Aly Martinez

Always a happy thing when a book that's been carried over for almost a year get taken of my list !!
This book is part of a series but different to the one I read. The H was in that I wanted to know his story. That all I remember about this book when I started.
Again it seems I have a theme going , and trust me it wasn't plan on my side. We have a heroine struggling with a tragedy and actually the hero is also struggling with some demons of his own. It was interesting to see how this couple dealt with it. The support around them. And there own thoughts about taking it minute by minute , day by day. Right or wrong they both had to deal with their own emotions and depression. . The author wasn't fixated on that but rather their love story. It engaged me but didn't drown me it their struggle.

I don't know if I need to read the rest of this series. But this author I will read again.

Michelle | 2601 comments Nine Minutes (Nine Minutes, #1) by Beth Flynn

Another challenge read.

Clearing out my TBR shelf has handed me some great reads this months. Let's not think about the other side of that. I'm wondering why it took me so long to read it! The style of writing was something new to me. I liked that it was set in the present with to timelines but rather a recounting of the past with snippets or reflections of the difference between past times and present. Again I couldn't put it down , I was sorely tempted to just jump to the last chapters because that prologue ... Way to draw me in. I don't even know what to say about the characters except read it for yourself and see and judge for yourself.

And after all that I'm unsure if I want to read the whole trilogy. The preview in the back didn't really scream at me to find it and read Now. It feels like it's the same story from a different pov and that's not my thing. I'll have a think about where to go with this series.

Michelle | 2601 comments Unforgiving (Broken Deeds MC #4) by Esther E. Schmidt Tis the season...to be inside my brain by Esther E. Schmidt

So after Nine Minutes I didn't want to leave the biker world so I snuck in a few Schmidt reads. One being a snippet. It's also filling my A-z challenge so bonus.
Anyway these read more like easy romance with a side of biker and a whole lot of sex. Be it verbal or actual doing of. I love the world that this author has created and makes me want to keep reading more of it. So before long I'll be starting another series . Helps that it was free and fills another challenge slot.

Michelle | 2601 comments Alien Refuge (Clans of Kalquor, #7) by Tracy St. John

I'll be honest and say this series I'm only reading so I can finish it. Its the same as far as the romance: reluctant, suppressed earthier woman falling for the clan of three alpha and dominant aliens. Add in some new enemies to the happiness of earthers and press play.

Michelle | 2601 comments Just a Bit Unhealthy (Straight Guys #3) by Alessandra Hazard

A mm series. We met these two in the previous book. This was really for me about does it matter the sex of the person if you love them and visa versa? Jared loved Gabriel even though Gabriel was straight. The other question is who says it's right or wrong to love who and how. Because these two really struggled .
This series also is novella sized so you don't have that in depth look at those question. Just a ... I almost want to say what worked f R this couple. Take it or don't bother reading the next as they are all the same and you won't necessarily get further story of them except as a drop in.
Still undecided if it works as it usually ends abruptly, just then they are together and that's it.

Michelle | 2601 comments Just a Bit Wrong (Straight Guys #4) by Alessandra Hazard

I'm struggling with this book. I don't like one of the main characters. ok we've been giving insights into why he is the way he is I just don't like him as an adult. The other guy is a closed book and getting married in three months...! Okay it's an open relationship but I do like how this is working out.

Putting it down for now.

Michelle | 2601 comments "Chopper" (Broken Deeds MC #4.5) by Esther E. Schmidt

This was part of a anthology. And was a great way of getting out of the funk the previous book left me in.
This was so short yet I got everything. A hero that's got PTSD and a Doc that understands him.

I had to reread two books just for background and the next book follows the story. And the now I'm all caught up. Till next month that is.

Michelle | 2601 comments Obsession (Cordova Empire, #1) by Ann Mayburn

Lal challenge read
This book might have triggers for some( hypnosis & aphrodisiacs ) which made me think free will was being manipulated. But as you get into the personality it all starts to make sense. And the way the author worked it. But wow this was a hawk read for me. I also don't know why it took me so long to read it but I'm of to read the next one.

Yes I'm reading this so I can add it on my up to date challenge. But also the last few books seems to have taken a different approach to the previous books. Is it a good chance or not? I don't know. Let just leave it at interesting that this new "wrinkle" is there. Still three alpha Alien males with some bdsm tendencies and some earth females discovering themselvesin all manners possible
