I am very skeptical about this as well. Physically, he is not even remotely like Poirot, but then neither was Branagh. I didn't like Branagh in the role nor did I like his movie.
I find it hard to see this going well.

I didn't care for Branagh as Poirot either. Malkovich...I'd have to see him in makeup and acting the role. Hope they don't modernize HP like they did with Holmes remake. Though I like Cumberbatch, I don't care for the electronics versions of the classics. What's next? Miss Marple going for botox? lol
How about some new material to add to the Christies instead of remake after remake? They've done it with MSW's, Nancy Drew's etc. Just have to get the right talent for the roles.

I just got Crooked House from Netflix, but haven't watched it yet. It is supposed to be pretty good and somewhat faithful to the story. One of the few AC's not yet adapted for TV or movies.

Re: Branagh - I was glad to see an Agatha in the theater, and the movie was good and I thought he acted well but he wasn't Poirot to me. I still thought it was a good movie but it was "off". I hope that makes sense. He wasn't a little man with an egg-shaped head who waddles.

PI's, see what you think about Crooked House. I'm probably in minority here but for me it was okay. Not one I care to watch again. I guess I just the miss the Christies of old. Or maybe it was the story. Just felt too "modern" for me and the ending was-- No spoilers here.
I like Father Brown's retro films better. Even though not exactly on a par as far as story/characters' stations in life, the filming etc. just captures the era better for me.
Maybe we should have a dedicated thread discussion on this film. :-)

Thought it was just me, NicoleG. Not one of my faves. I actually bought my copy when it first came out as I was just thankful for a Christie. lol See what the others think of it.

I haven't watched Crooked House yet--very busy right now!
I love the Father Brown TV shows as well. There is a very active Facebook page for it, if you are interested. Unfortunately, our local PBS station does not air them, and I have to watch the DVDs.

Thankfully, we get him on pbs but Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is another story. Have to pay extra for that channel.
