And the winning book is...

Unless

Very few people used more than one vote this month. Those who did use more than 1, helped push Unless for the win.

And Anita will be picking the member book choice since she won the lottery. So we eagerly await her selection.

Anita wrote: "Requiem for a Dream by Hubert Selby" I voted for Unless. I also have this one so maybe I can read both.

This month’s options make me happy! I look forward to reading both of them.

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments I’ve read Unless, and really liked it. But I’m excited to read Requiem for a Dream! It’s been waiting patiently on my e-shelf for way too long.

George P. | 563 comments Thanks for your pick Anita- I look forward to reading Requiem for a Dream (added to the list in 2008). I had it my to-read list already, but about 3 years out! So moving way up the list.
I read Shields' The Stone Diaries a few years ago and liked it a lot, but don't think I'll take on Unless as well. I see my 4 GR friends who've read it all rated it 4 or 5 stars.

Anita Pomerantz | 166 comments Oh, I'm so happy there are a few others who want to read Requiem for a Dream . . .I tried to at least go for a highly rated one in hopes some of us will like it. It's a little bit of pressure picking the book, lol!

I'm looking forward to reading it and to sharing thoughts with all of you.

Gail (gailifer) | 1602 comments Good choice Anita. I will try and read both.

Based on my impression of the film it's going to be pretty dark and grim at times- hopefully there's some humor along with it.

Chinook | 282 comments I’m interested in both and they are both on Overdrive, so really it will just depend on time and hold waits.

Looking for hosts to facilitate the discussions for the following books.

The Kindly Ones by Jonathan Littell Seasonal Read (I don’t think anyone volunteered)

Unless by Carol Shields

Requiem for a Dream by Hubert Selby Jr.

Any volunteers?

George P. | 563 comments I've started Requiem... about a sixth of the way in so far. The dopers are reminding me of Trainspotting, which was written about 20 years later.

I have previously read The Kindly Ones so I can step in if no one volunteers :)

Are you willing to be the host/moderator for it?
