C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4304 comments You have until the 23rd of May to post a poem and from the 24th to around the 28th of May, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: Airplane

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

I want to fly.
I know people who have.
I want to see the world.
I want to see the Earth become a patchwork quilt with fluffy clouds drifting over the details.

It doesn’t have to be first class.
(Maybe I can ride with the luggage?)

Once upon a time, airplanes were considered impractical.
Then WW2 happened and we ruled the sky.
When we regained peace we wanted speed.
(Around the world in eighty days? Try several trips a day!)

The freedom to travel anywhere requires a great deal of endurance.
(Good luck dealing with jet lag and clocks!)

Poet : Edward Davies

Roaring through the cityscape
Drawing looks of fear
Contrails spewing from its wings
And then they disappear

Slipping gently out of sight
Into the city’s heart
Explosions, forceful, like a punch
A nation torn apart

The ground is boring
We're bound and snoring
Asleep down here
While crowds are boarding
To be astounded, soaring
Above the sleep down here
Up into the clouds
Waking up to see that -- Wow!
There's more to see, than down here
Wiping the sleep from their eyes
A soothing sight; the peaceful skies
That's where I'd rather be, than down here

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4304 comments Sorry guys. I've been having a weird day with seemingly nothing but problems. It looks like I will have to put the polls and contests up next week.
