Gwyneth (gwynethabaker) | 20 comments Sharon I've never tried this series, would you recommend them? Who's books are they like? I've read a lot of Scandi crime authors. Always looking for a new one. Thanks

There are 20 books in the series and I haven’t read any. I watched the series whenever it comes on tv either here in The Netherlands or Belgium. Really enjoy the series and actor / cast together with storylines very much. I think it is on Netflix too.

Tone Gunnar Staalesen's Varg Veum series is inspired by the American hard-bolied tradition of Raymond Chandler and Dahiell Hammett. Varg Veum is working as a private eye in Bergen, Norway.
In my opinion, the books are better than the adaptations for TV.

Because I enjoy it so very much I am certain the books would be excellent but started watching many, many years ago. Usually watch or read a series, only occasionally both.
