Anyone have a nonfiction book that you really, really to read for the month of August? Share ideas here.

Leanna | 8 comments Here's some ideas, but no particular preference. I would prefer a book that I can check out at the library vs. purchasing (some may be too new for the library).

FINDING ME, by Michelle Knight with Michelle Burford. (Weinstein.) The story of a woman kidnapped in Cleveland in 2002, then tortured, who escaped in 2013.

Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune by
Bill Dedman, and Paul Clark Jr. Newell.

Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him by Luis Carlos Montalván

Princess: A True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia (The Princess Trilogy #1)
by Jean Sasson

Those are all (except for Princess) in the system, but they are so new that most of the copies are checked out or on reserve, maybe a little more down the road we can read one of them. Oh, and Until Tuesday doesn't have enough copies in the system to use it for a book club book. (That's a shame because I saw the author on tv a while back and wanted to read the book.)

Anyway, I found some others that are somewhat new, but not so new that there is a huge waiting list for them, and that there are enough copies in the system, in all available formats in most cases (regular book, large print book, eBook, audio CD, audio download, and playaway.)

How about we choose from these:

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai:

A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen:

Glitter and Glue by Kelly Corrigan:

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote:

David and Goliath by Malcom Gladwell:

Going Clear by Lawrence Wright:

This is a cross section of very different kinds of nonfiction books, and I hope something here grabs you! I'm up for reading any of them.

Leanna | 8 comments How many people are active participants in the group? I've been waiting for more responses before I comment further. I have read In Cold Blood before - good book.

Becki (beckisbookshelf) I'd vote for Glitter and Glue or David & Goliath
