I read this one a few years ago and remember enjoying it. This one was quite funny, with another rather unpleasant antihero (which seems to be a Banville speciality). I am looking forward to the discussions on this one, but I am not sure how much I can contribute without re-reading it.

Robert | 2262 comments I read Book of Evidence in 2001 and a lot of fun reading it, however when I reread it in 2014, it left a rather sour taste in my mouth. I still it is a great book though.

Sam | 1713 comments I'm just reading it for the first time and have to pay attention to where I read. I was reading of Charlie's cooking techniques while taking a sip of beer at my pub and commenced to laugh and choke enough that the barman came and poured me a glass of water.

"I watched him glugging the better half of a fifty-pound bottle of Pommerol into the stew. An inch of cigarette ash went into the pot as well, he tried vainly to fish it out with a spoon, cllucking in annoyance."
