Ready Player One
question
Novels about being a fan

I'm looking for recommendations of novels about being a fan or novels whose relationship to some other work is itself kinda fannish. Ready Player One is an obvious example, but I'm thinking of things like Lev Grossman's Magicians series or Jonathan Lethem's Fortress of Solitude. Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey is another good one. Ditto Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus.
The question came up because I'm looking to replace Junot Diaz's Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao on my syllabus for a course about fandom and literature, but I'm having a hard time finding just the right thing.
I'd appreciate all the help I can get!

It is done, already published.
It's about a guy who grew up as a fan of cartoons, is still obsessed with them as he got older only to find out that his father is a supervision like the ones in the shows he liked.

Why don't you publish it when you are done?
What is it about?
