I'd like to read something where an LGBTQ character is disowned or hurt by their family / friends after coming out and then the people who hurt them eventually wind up apologizing / realizing they were wrong.

Genre doesn't matter, age group doesn't matter.

And in The Upside of Unrequited, there's a kinda reconciliation thing happens for the side characters...

Thought I'd for sure have a few recs for this but I'm actually struggling :/

I second that recommendation. It was a 5 star read for me, one of the best books of 2016.
