Deborah Dixon (deboracracy) | 29 comments We're back with updated services!

Shalamar is a book publishing and author advocacy company that offers a full slate of services to writers. We have a team of professional editors, and we offer line, copy, and content editing as well as proofreading, ebook formatting, book reviews, and other services for self-published and independently-published authors.

I'm the lead editor and a cofounder of Shalamar, and I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association; our other editors will join this year as well. We have helped dozens of authors prepare their stories for publication, and most of them have stayed on as repeat customers, who have described us as "tough but fair" and often praise us for making constructive changes while still maintaining their unique voices.

In addition to editing and proofreading, we also offer book reviews that can be used for marketing purposes, ebook formatting for EPUB and Kindle, interior layout, and topic research. We aim to be a one-stop shop for authors by providing just about anything an author might need during the publication process.

For the month of May, we're offering 20% off of our editing and proofreading services and 15% off of our book reviews to Goodreads members! You can use the promo codes below to access the discounts. Note that these codes are valid through June 1, 2018.

For editing and proofreading: MAY2018
For book reviews: MAYREVIEW
And you can book our services here: https://www.shalamarmedia.com/schedul...

Deborah Dixon (deboracracy) | 29 comments We have spots available for editing in June--book now to reserve yours!

Also, we are piloting a new book review program. Our editors will read your completed manuscript and write a genuine and honest review that you can use in your book marketing or as feedback for your story. (No editing or proofreading is included in this option; it's for finished stories or for authors looking for general feedback/beta-reviewing.)

If you sign up for a book review in June, while we're testing out this new offering, you can use the code GREVIEW and get 50% off! That means you can get a review of your 50K-80K word book for $25, and your 80K+ book for $37.50!

You can book a review, editing, or any of our other services here:

Deborah Dixon (deboracracy) | 29 comments I personally have a free weekend coming up and would like to spend it on editing. So I've created a promo code that will work through Sunday the 11th (GREDIT). Using the code will give you 40% off line editing or copy/content (developmental) editing! And because I have the weekend off, my turnaround time should be about 7 days!

This will only apply to the first one or two people (depending on manuscript length) to order, so be sure to book now or contact me through our website: https://www.shalamarmedia.com/schedul...

(Technically, if you just want to take advantage of the 40% discount but aren't ready for editing, you can do that by paying ahead through the website and then letting me know to hold a future spot for you.)

Deborah Dixon (deboracracy) | 29 comments We still have a couple of spots left for June! If you want a quick turnaround, sign up at our website (above), or feel free to message/email me if you'd like to work something out!

Deborah Dixon (deboracracy) | 29 comments Happy November!

I have exactly one spot open for October/November--immediate turnaround, probably complete in 7 to 10 days depending on manuscript length. If you would like this spot, please contact me directly here or via my website.

As for November, we do not have any editing sports open; we traditionally open very few spots since most of us are working on novels of our own this month, and the spots that we did have are already claimed by returning clients. But you can book an editing spot for December ahead of time!

If you are also writing a novel in November, you can get 20% off of editing with the code NOVEL2018.

We also have a few marketing/web design spots available, and the WEBSITE2018 code remains valid through 2018.

As always, if you have any questions about our services or need further accommodations, please let us know!

Deborah Dixon (deboracracy) | 29 comments I've wound up being way ahead at NaNo, so I'm opening one additional editing slot for November! This is as immediate slot. Contact me to grab it before it's gone (aka before I fall behind on my NaNo word count)!
