Fie on you! ;) I thought I'd stop by just to see what 5 star book has elicited no comments, and now Book 1 of this trilogy is on my tbr! As if I needed more :). A number of people I've known elsewhere (on a book thread on my former homeschooling forum that I followed for several years before hearing about Shelfari which his how I found pbt) love this series, etc.Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I love Sharon Kay Penman and started reading her with this series. Copious tears.

The family of Henry III spans across the globe, from Spain to France to England and Wales. Women and marriages were used for political gain, which can cause tons of drama!
This book tells the story of Henry III in England, his half-sister Joanna in Wales, married to the Welsh Prince Llewelyn and his other sister Eleanor and her marriage( for love) to Simon Montfort, a Frenchman who talked his way into the English aristocracy .
I love Penman and the way she tells a story. Her research is impeccable. Any of her books can be read as a stand alone, so don't be put off by the word trilogy.
