Vicky | 69 comments I'm writing a challenge for myself for next year. For each book I finish in 2018, I use it to create a prompt for a book for 2019. Then I'll do the same thing next year, and make a glorious book chain!

1. The Wonder -- A book about nursing or health services
2. The Fireman -- A book about a plague
3. Death of a Murderer -- True Crime fiction
4. The Book Thief -- A book that features Death as a character
5. We Have Always Lived in the Castle -- A genre classic
6. The Little Stranger -- A ghost story
7. The Book of Strange New Things -- A book about separation
8. Horns -- A book where the main character is falsely accused
9. Nutshell -- A book about pregnancy
10. The Power -- A book from multiple points of view
11. The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August -- A book with themes of repetition
12. Frog Music -- A book about immigrants
13. The Bone Clocks -- A book you thought you wouldn't like
14. The City & the City -- A book recommended by a friend
15. The Last Days of Jack Sparks -- A book from a celebrity book club
16. Homegoing -- A book about slavery
17. Hag-Seed -- A book about imprisonment
18. The Thirteenth Tale -- A book with twins
19. Doctor Sleep -- A book where the pet doesn't die*
20. Under the Skin -- A re-read you loved the first time round
21. Lincoln in the Bardo -- A book about bereavement
22. See What I Have Done -- A book long-listed for the Women's Prize for Fiction
23. Fellside -- A book that features attempted suicide
24. The Courage Consort -- A book with a mystery that's never explained
25. Life After Life -- A book where the characters get snowed in
26. The Haunting of Hill House -- A book whose protagonist lies to others
27. You Don't Know Me -- A book by an author who isn't an author
28. Bird Box -- A book focusing on one of the senses
29. The Blind Assassin -- A book within a book
30. The Silent Companions -- An historical novel that isn't neo-Victorian
31. A Head Full of Ghosts -- A book by an author you've met
32. The Penelopiad -- A book that Dad would have liked

* My partner and I have a running joke because in books that I read, the pets always die, and it's always the only thing that makes me cry. This is the first book I read this year where I remember the pet specifically surviving to the end!
