A brief clarification:
"You read a book and win page points. Then you can use it for one extra task - spells or quidditch or classes or Tri-Wizard.
The bom points and buddy read points are always cumulative, so they add up to those above. " ~ Sonia

Hey everyone! Welcome to Team Flitwick in Ravenclaw!

I hope everyone else is as excited as I am to get this challenge underway! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

All the important information for playing Tower Teams has been linked in one of the above posts. For any questions that are not answered in "All about Tower Teams" or any other thread the mods put up, please feel free to ask in this thread. Amber, Caroline, and I will do our best to answer all your questions, or we'll conjure up an answer from the resources in captain's group. This frees the mods up to focus on getting everything up and running.

As always, the most important reminder is to read and have fun!

When checking in please post a link to your tower teams bookshelf (or the shelf name is fine if you aren't sure about linking). If you have time, we would love for you to introduce yourselves at whatever level of detail you are comfortable with.

Brooke | 1199 comments Hello teammates! This is only my second team challenge, with the first being Towers last year.

My shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I work from home in Dallas, TX, so I should be able to check in often most days. I travel to Austin most weekends to see my boyfriend, but that means I get through an audiobook every weekend. :-)

My reading time depends on my business travel. When I'm home I spend a lot of evenings reading, especially since my boyfriend lives 200 miles away. But when I am on a business trip, my reading is more unpredictable.

Aside from reading I enjoy cooking, wine & champagne, planning my next getaway, and sports. I read a lot of genres with the bulk being historical fiction or thrillers, but I usually avoid romance and westerns.

Hey Ashley! Welcome!

Deanna | 2962 comments I'm Deanna, your captain for this Hogwart's adventure, and I live in Virginia, USA. I read mostly fantasy, mystery, romance, and some young adult fiction; but also dabble in other genres as the mood strikes me. I usually read a combination of print and kindle books, but I've been making an effort in the last couple of months to listen to more audiobooks from Overdrive as well.

I've read the Harry Potter series a few times and seen all of the movies. I haven't decided if I will join in the series buddy read or not. I do want to reread the Kate Daniels series before the next book comes out (in August I think), so I am planning to participate in that reread.

I can't wait to see all the surprises the mods have in store for us!

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Hello all!
Checking in. This is my third TT challenge and always looking forward playing and reading with team.
I'm from Estonia but I also consider myself a part-time Californian.

I read mostly UF , PNR, Fantasy and Romance, sometimes an occasional Historical Fiction or Mystery book.

My shelf is here

Deanna | 2962 comments Welcome Brooke and Skandia!

message 22: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kielianne) | 940 comments Hello all! My name is Kirsten & I live in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia). This is my first TT challenge but my fourth team challenge overall (counting Wobble & two UNOs).

I read a variety of genres but prefer fantasy, historical fiction, paranormal, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, and magical. These often tend to YA or Middle Grade books but occasionally adult books as well, as many on audiobook as I can acquire through my library. I also like graphic novels but promise to set those aside for this challenge. ;)

I am currently actively seeking employment as a Communicative Disorders Assistant so for the time being am home most of the time. These jobs include infant hearing screenings, audiology/hearing testing, and speech therapy for all ages.

here's my shelf: tthogwarts2018

Caroline (carolinet12) | 249 comments Hi guys ! Welcome everyone :)

I live in Montreal, Canada and am working in a pharmaceutical company! I will be co-captain for the first time, but I have done a couple challenges already with NBRC.

I read many different types of books, but mostly Young Adult and Historical fiction. I prefer reading old-style, with an actual book ! But for challenges I will often sneak in some audiobooks.

Here is the link to my shelf : tt-vi

I know some of you are on their first challenges, so be free to ask as many questions as you want ! We'll be there to make this SOOO much fun :)

I'm from Team Lockhart and just can't wait for something to happen in my team thread 🙈

message 27: by Amy (new)

Amy | 251 comments Hello my Ravenclaw friends!! I am so happy to be a part of this TT!! I've done a few of the tower teams in the past and always loved the fact that's it's basically just reading to your heart's content with some strategy thrown into the mix. I can't wait to start!

I read pretty much only fiction - young adult, fantasy, sci fi, new adult, romance, historical fiction, and anything that someone can highly recommend. Please recommend me your favorites because I love finding new "hidden gems."

My shelf is titled tower-teams-2018
I have no idea if I linked it correctly, but fingers crossed

Amber M. McCarter (mommyultd) | 96 comments Reporting in!

My Shelf: flitwick-tower-team-vi

Let's see, who am I...
I'm a 36 year old, single mother of five, living in Washington state, and a self-employed energy healer... So my reading primarily happens late at night lol I read some of almost everything, fiction and non-fiction alike - I just want quality writing. But I do have a definite lean toward sci-fi :)

This is my first time participating in this particular challenge - I'm really looking forward to it! It has been a few years since I read the Harry Potter books, but nevertheless am a huge fan, and total Ravenclaw - so, I'm pleased to have been properly sorted, ha!

megan | 1394 comments Hello all. I’m Megan. Eastern time zone in the US. This will be my third Towers Team competition. When it comes to reading, I like to push my comfort zone. So, I’ll gladly read for those unpopular goals.
I read mostly mystery/crime/thrillers and historical fiction. I go for YA or romance when I’m particularly stressed out at work. I also try to always be working on a non-fiction.
By day, I am a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry - big, big jet engines made by a company you probably thought only made cars.

My first group challenge was a Tower Challenge, so these are always my favorite!

My shelf is Tower VI

Camilla | 1885 comments Hi everybody! Checking in. My name is Camilla, I'm 51, live on the southwestern coast of Finland, family includes hubby and 21- and 19-year-old daughters. I work full-time as a school psychologist. Besides reading I really enjoy travelling and gardening. In books I prefer fantasy, scifi, horror, thrillers and some non-fiction, usually avoid romance, erotica, westerns, classics and graphic novels, unless specifically needed for a challenge. I always read several books alternatingly, both paper books, kindle, Overdrive ebooks and audio, and audio CDs. I participate in several individual challenges in various groups, but this is my only team challenge at the moment. Probably my third TT if I remember correctly.

I've read all the HP books and seen the films, liked them a lot but wouldn't call myself a fan. We visited the HP studios in London a few years ago and they were really cool. Did the Pottermore sorting hat thing and it concluded that I'm a Ravenclaw - no big surprise there - so it seems I'm in the right team, LOL!

Looking forward to playing with all of you!

Kate S | 1967 comments Hello team!

I am Kate. I also currently live in Virginia, a few miles outside of DC. I am an avid reader, and will read just about anything. I do shy away from romance, erotica and young adult books, but even those make it into my reading from time to time.

I participated in the first tower team challenge and have done most of them since then.

When not reading, I am playing with my nieces (4 and 7 years old), watching baseball/football/hockey/soccer, playing golf or knitting.

My challenge shelf is flitwick.

message 45: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kielianne) | 940 comments Hello Kate :) I too am a knitter, though I am a bit out of practice. Hoping the theme of this challenge will give me the push I need to make myself the Ravenclaw scarf/scarves I have been planning (yet putting off) for awhile now.

I started crocheting just in the last few years. & decided to embark on a GIANT project. A "temperature blanket" that spanned an entire year of high and low temps for two locations with one row per day that used coloured yarn based on when the temp appeared on my scale. (reds & oranges for warm days, blues & purples for cold ones) I was doing well for awhile but it had now sat incomplete for almost two years, as it took me 2hrs to do a single row/day. :(

Have any of you done any loom knitting?

My blanket squares have probably been sitting for about two years as well.

I haven't tried loom knitting. I've been telling myself no new projects this year until I do something with those squares. It does look intriguing though.
