Estha and Rahel are fraternal twins living with their mothers extended family after their parents divorce. The book mostly takes place around a tragic event when the twins are children though it also includes events from when they are 31 years old. The book has a very non-linear timeline which I didn't like and found a bit confusing. The story mainly deals with love and who is it acceptable to love along with family dynamics. The story was very dark. The writing was beautiful in places but I never really felt connected to the characters which lowered my rating.
I know a lot of people on PBT like this book, it's on our PBT 100 fiction list, so if you like dark books or the plot sounds interesting to you I would still suggest reading it.
