Fantasy about a young man who draws/paints the details of murders

I think I read this book in 16 or 17 but I can’t find it in my goodreads list. Like subject saves its about a young man who paints murder victims or other portraits and the paintings reveal some secret about the subject. The first one is a young girl, turns out to be a princess or similar. The artist ends up befriending her half brothers...help? I think his memory might have been stolen too? As punishment for marrying a normal non magical person? By his grandfather maybe?

Brush with Catastrophe by Tara Lain is about a (male) witch with the power of prophetic painting, but I don't think any of the other plot points match up. It's the second book in an m/m paranormal series.
