Carolyn (cam00105) | 29 comments I'd love to climb higher but several of my TBR books for the year are library books or I bought them post Jan 1st 2018 so I'll start here and see how I go. This challenge sounds so fun though, I am very excited :D

Carolyn (cam00105) | 29 comments Another 7, again see my page and 2018 read shelf for proper reviews.
14. The Gryphon by Nick Bantock-Book 1 in the Morning Star trilogy or Book 4 in the Griffin and Sabine Saga. Owned since about 2006. Weirdly, I thought I read this years ago, because I have read the first 3 books several times in the last decade. However, I must have only read half of it then put it aside for some reason because I hardly remembered any of it while reading it recently and knew I had never read the ending. Read 7/28/18.
15. Alexandria by Nick Bantock- Book 2 in the Morning Star trilogy or Book 5 in the Griffin and Sabine Saga. Owned since about 2006. Read 7/28/18.
16. The Morning Star by Nick Bantock-Book 3 in the Morning Star trilogy or Book 6 in the Griffin and Sabine Saga. Owned since about 2006. Read 7/28/18.
17. Lady Susan by Jane Austen. Owned as a free ebook since 2016. Read 7/15/18.
18. The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Su and Kate Rorick. This is basically an expanded novelization of the webseries the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, which is itself a modern adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Owned since 2014. Read 8/5/18-8/6/18.
19. The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley. Owned since 2013. Read 9/7/18-9/9/18.

Lynna Excellent work! You are almost half way there :-)

message 12: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (cam00105) | 29 comments Thanks Lynna! I wish I was a bit further along since it is well over halfway through the year but hopefully I'll make up for it in these last few months. I've actually read so much more than this but a lot of what I've read came from the library or I bought it after January 1st lol.

Carolyn (cam00105) | 29 comments Ok y'all another 7...
20. As You Like It by William Shakespeare- read 9/16/18, owned for a few years. 5*s! Definitely my favorite romantic comedy of Shakespeare's, full review (I think) up on my page.
21. Jeremy Poldark by Winston Graham- third book in the Poldark series- finished 9/16/18, owned since 2016. 4*s, a good one but I did enjoy the first 2 slightly more. Love the series overall though and the show.
22. Warleggan by Winston Graham- fourth book in the Poldark series- finished 10/10/18, owned since December 2017 (I think). 4*s, I really like this series as I have said before but this book takes a few darker turns than we have seen in the previous books and it broke my heart at times. Full review on my page.
23. Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie- finished 12/4/18, owned in a Poirot bindup for several years. 4.5*s, loved this one because Christie brought 4 of her detectives together, full review is on my page.
24. Dumb Witness by Agatha Christie- finished 12/15/18, owned several years. 4*s, full review on my page.
25. I am Half Sick of Shadows by Alan Bradley- finished 12/21/18, owned several years. 4.5*s, I thoroughly enjoyed this one because not only is it a Flavia de Luce but it is set at Christmas and the guest characters are all at Buckshaw making a film :D, full review on my page.
26. Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie- finished 12/23/18, owned in a Poirot bindup for several years. 4.5*s, full review on my page :D.
Hopefully I can get at least another 5 read before the year is over but sadly I don't think I will end up being able to complete my climb, I ended up reading a lot of things from the library this year and caved a few times when it came to buying books.

Jessika (jessika_56) Those darn library books get me, too!

Carolyn (cam00105) | 29 comments Ok everyone, last 3 of the year...
For full reviews see my page/2018 read shelf
27. Troll Bridge graphic novel by Neil Gaiman illustrated by Colleen Doran. Read 12/30/18 owned since 6/17. I still enjoy the story (read the short story this is adapted from a few years ago) but forgot how depressing it is and I have trouble with stories with unlikeable main characters so this one wasn't as much fun as I hoped.
28. Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie-read 12/29-12/31/18, owned since 2013 or 2014. 5*s :D.
29.The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber narrated by Ben Stiller. I've owned this very short audio version of this short story since the film came out a few years ago and this was a similar situation to Curious Case of Benjamin Button where I saw the film first and liked it much better.
Well that's all folks, I didn't complete my climb but I still read a lot more than this this year and loved most of it and will try again next year! Hope you all had a wonderful reading year and 2018, Happy 2019!
